The Baltimore Ravens in 2026 will usher in a brand-new era with many changes to the team and coaching staff. After coming up short the last few seasons in disappointing fashion, the Ravens needed a change on many different levels. The Ravens are a team that has amazing talent to win a Super Bowl, but circumstances have presented themselves. And, changes were desperately needed for the Baltimore Ravens to achieve their Super Bowl dreams. Hopefully, with all of the changes this offseason so far, it can make a difference come regular and postseason.
Firing of John Harbaugh:
The first big offseason move for the Ravens was the firing of John Harbaugh after 18 seasons as head coach. Harbaugh went 180-113 in his 18 years, 12 playoff appearances, 6 division titles, and a Super Bowl title in 2012. But, after 4 straight heartbreaking season-ending losses, and with Lamar Jackson at quarterback, changes were definitely needed. John Harbaugh will go down in franchise history as both the winningest and greatest head coach in Baltimore Ravens history. And Ravens fans will forever be grateful to John Harbaugh for the 18 years he stood on the Ravens’ sidelines.
Hiring of Jesse Minter:
Then, Los Angeles Chargers Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter was hired on January 22 as the new head coach. Becoming just the 4th head coach in Baltimore Ravens history, following Ted Marchibroda, Brian Billick, and John Harbaugh. Minter is coming off a season where he led a Los Angeles Chargers team ranked #5 in total defense. Also, as defensive coordinator, both the pass and run defenses were inside the top 10 during the season. Now, Jesse Minter will have his opportunity to bring back bully ball that the Baltimore Ravens have always been known for in their history.
Free Agent Moves:
The Ravens nearly pulled off the biggest blockbuster trade before backing out of the deal before it became official. On March 6, the Ravens had agreed in principle to acquire Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders. But, before the trade became official, Baltimore backed out of the deal due to concerns about Maxx Crosby’s injured knee. Then, one day after that, the Ravens pivot to plan B by signing Trey Hendrickson to a 4-year deal. After missing out on Maxx Crosby, the Baltimore Ravens were able to get a nice consolation prize in Trey Hendrickson.
Besides that, the Baltimore Ravens lost many key players on both offense and defense due to free agency and more. But were able to sign some notable free agents during the offseason, with the main one being Trey Hendrickson. Also, signed was guard John Simpson from the New York Jets on a 3-year deal worth 30 million dollars. Also able to sign Safety Jaylinn Hawkins from the New England Patriots on a 2-year deal, worth 10 million dollars. And, also bringing back an old friend by signing veteran defensive end Calais Campbell to a 1-year deal.
Despite all of the controversy surrounding them, the Ravens were able to put together a solid signing of free agents.
2026 NFL Draft:
Then came the 2026 NFL Draft in late April, where the Ravens did their magic of picking solid players. In the 1st round at pick #14, the Ravens select Penn State Guard Vega Ioane to solidify the offensive line. Then they add more help to the pass rush by selecting defensive end Zion Young #45 from Missouri. Then, with back-to-back picks, they went Wide Receivers, Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, to give Lamar Jackson more weapons. The Ravens followed that up with two Tight Ends and more depth pieces for the team in rounds 5-7.
The 2026 offseason has been an interesting one, to say the least, for the Baltimore Ravens in every aspect. From hiring Jesse Minter as the new head coach, to backing out of a blockbuster trade for Maxx Crosby. The Ravens will look towards training camp and preseason to prepare themselves for the 2026 NFL season.
