Bailey Zappe as the backup is a last resort

As expected, Bailey Zappe is back on the practice squad. However, he isn’t Bill O’Brien’s first choice at backup quarterback it’s Bill Belichick. But here’s the thing Belichick doesn’t run the offense anymore Bill O’Brien does. O’Brien wanted a veteran to backup Mac Jones unless there was none available. If none were available, then as a last resort bring Zappe from the practice squad and make him the backup.

Zappe had a terrible camp and preseason. O’Brien like I’ve been saying since he got hired, he was brought here to fix Mac Jones not a fourth-round backup. Zappe can’t run the O’Brien offense Belichick may not like that but too bad his power keeps going away every year. If Bill Belichick had it his way Matt Patricia and Joe Judge would still be running the offense. Zappe would be the quarterback they’d be 5-12 and Jim and Joe Murray from 98.5 The Sports Hub would be happy because Zappe is the quarterback morons.

If we want to ask why Jarrett Stidham wasn’t cut by Belichick and just traded? The answer is that Belichick didn’t humiliate Cam Newton and named him the starter. Also, the offensive coordinator at the time Josh McDaniels liked Stidham and probably wanted to keep him. Stidham however, was too busy being on his wife’s Instagram and being in awe of Cam Newton.

If Belichick didn’t humiliate both Mac and Zappe that caused friction between them he’d probably still be on the actual roster. But, O’Brien not only saw he couldn’t run the offense but saw the distraction that comes with Zappe caused by Belichick. O’Brien instead wants a veteran while Belichick wants Zappe to backup. Because O’Brien runs the offense and reports to Kraft it’s his call. Only if they don’t sign a veteran then Zappe will be the last resort to back up Mac in Week 1 against the Eagles.

I try to hire the best people I can,” Kraft said. “I give them accountability, full authority to do as they please, hold them accountable. But if things aren’t going the way I’d like, we meet in private and have our discussions and make changes. It’s something we’ve done this year. I’m very happy that we were able to bring in a new offensive coordinator to help develop our young quarterback Mac Jones. I think bringing in Bill O’Brien has been a big plus for our franchise. And that was done in full cooperation with Coach Belichick. I’m very excited about our team for next year. “We’re blessed to have a great young quarterback in Mac Jones as our quarterback, and I’m a strong believer in him and his development,” Kraft said.

Nothing said was said about Zappe and his development. Sorry to Jim and Joe Murray from the Sports Hub and the rest of the morons. There was never a dumb quarterback competition this whole narrative is all on Belichick only. Good for Bill O’Brien to come in and take control if Zappe is the backup, then he’s the backup but he isn’t in competition for the starting job not even close in the O’Brien offense he can’t run.
