After a tough but encouraging four-game road trip, the Mystics are back home as they welcome the Los Angeles Sparks. The Mystics, who are .500 in this early start to the season, are coming off a strong win against the Seattle Storm, as they controlled the glass and the lead most of the game. The Los Angeles Sparks are an interesting team to figure out this season, as we have seen they moved on from former first-round pick Rickea Jackson in a trade for Ariel Atkins.
The Return of Nneka Ogunmike as she departed from Seattle, and Azura Stevens moving back to Chicago, as well as Head Coach Lynne Roberts’ questionable comments towards Cameron Brink in the first game of the season. The Sparks (Kelsey Plum) took over late in the fourth quarter in the last game and defeated the Las Vegas Aces. While the Sparks, on paper, have a good team, there are still way too many questions.
Defending home court is key, and the Mystics won ten home games last season. The Sparks won 12 games on the road. Washington has a record of 3- 3 on the marketing campaign. On the subject of offense, the Mystics are hitting under 45% from the floor, which ranks 8th in basketball. Washington has 497 pts so far this year (eighty-two.eight in line with the contest), and they pull in 36.7 rebounds a game. Assist stats are 17.5 times per game (14th in the league), and they are turning it over 15.7 times per game.
The Mystics are responsible for committing 24.7 fouls per game while taking 77.6% from the charity stripe. The Mystics, on defense, are ranked eighth in basketball in points allowed per game at 86.3. The Mystics’ defense gives up 35.5% from downtown (60 of 169), and opponents are converting 81.6% of their free-throw attempts early. They have conceded 19.3 assists and 31.0 rebounds per game, which rank 7th and 4th in basketball.
