The most talked-about division in the NFL, by both fans and football experts, is the NFC East. A division that most fans and experts always talk about every single week before games and after games in football. In 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles became the first repeat division winner when they won 4 consecutive division titles in the 2000s. NFC East divisional games are always must-see TV when they battle it out on the football field for 60 minutes. Let’s place where I believe each team in the NFC East is going to be positioned for the 2026 season.
1. Philadelphia Eagles
When you’re the champs, you are expected to have a bullseye on your back, and that’s what Philly has now. With a very talented roster, they look to three-peat as NFC East champions just like in the early 2000s. After trading WR AJ Brown, the Eagles will look to replace his production with rookie Makai Lemon from Southern California. Quarterback Jalen Hurts, in one game, can look amazing, and in another, can look like hot garbage with his inconsistency. The Eagles have every reason imaginable to win the NFC East for a 3rd straight year with a deep roster.
2. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best looking offense in the entire NFL, led by quarterback Dak Prescott. This team can put up a lot of points on the scoreboard to win football games in the NFC East. One thing that could prevent this team from reaching the mountaintop in this division this season is the defense. The defense was historically bad in 2025, and when out and drafted two defensive players in1st round of the draft. Dallas in 2026, with a very excellent offense, can be a good football team if the defense improves from last year.
3. Washington Commanders
The most disappointing team last season was the Washington Commanders, who were coming off an NFC Championship appearance in 2024. Injuries plagued Washington in 2025, including to franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed 10 games with an elbow injury. The defense had a complete makeover with the additions of both free agent Odafe Oweh and 1st-round pick Sonny Styles. The question for Jayden Daniels this year is: can he return to his rookie-year form in 2026? And if the injuries can stay away from this team, the Washington Commanders can be a playoff team in 2026.
4. New York Giants
New York made a big splash in the offseason by hiring former Ravens and Super Bowl-winning head coach John Harbaugh. The last 2 seasons have been dreadful for the New York Giants, with a record of only 7-27. But they are a very young football team that has talent on both the offense and defensive sides of the ball. Now, they have a coach who knows what it takes to make the postseason and win a championship in John Harbaugh. The New York Giants have an exciting future, but they might be a year or two away from the postseason.
Overall Thoughts:
The NFC East is always the talk of the town when it comes to NFL fans and experts. 2026 is going to be another typical NFC East kind of year, with these games going to be must-see television. All 4 teams in the division had a really good offseason, and we’ll see if it plays out on the field. Health will be a key contributor for a team to win this division in 2026 and beyond the regular season. And I see the Philadelphia Eagles three-peat as NFC East champions, and I see 2 or potentially 3 teams coming out of the NFC East and making the postseason in 2026.
Predictions:
1. Philadelphia Eagles: 13-4
2. Dallas Cowboys: 11-6
3. Washington Commanders: 10-7
4. New York Giants: 6-11
