I wouldn’t call myself a health nut but I try and eat well, and move my body when I can while I can. As the saying goes I’m here for a good, time not a long time. Knowing that is my mantra I am not a coffee drinker instead I start the day with a smoothie. Here is why, and the benefits you can enjoy like I do. Starting your day with a smoothie can be one of the most invigorating and health-boosting decisions you can make. Here’s why a morning smoothie might just be the perfect kick-start to your day:

Nutrient Dense Start

Smoothies are an excellent way to pack a variety of nutrients into one meal. By blending fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and perhaps yogurt or milk, you can get a broad spectrum of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. This nutrient-rich meal can help meet your daily nutritional needs, support your immune system, improve skin health, and enhance overall well-being. For example, adding spinach or kale can boost your iron and vitamin K intake, while berries provide antioxidants and vitamin C.

Hydration

After a night’s sleep, your body is usually dehydrated. A smoothie, especially if you include water-rich ingredients like cucumber, watermelon, or leafy greens, can help rehydrate you. Hydration is crucial for maintaining energy levels, aiding digestion, and ensuring your body functions at its best from the get-go.

Hi, I’m Courtney and I am a former energy drink addict. The combination of natural sugars from fruits, complex carbohydrates from vegetables, and proteins from nuts or protein powders provides a balanced energy release. Unlike the quick spikes and drops you might get from coffee or sugary cereals, a smoothie can offer sustained energy, helping you feel alert and focused throughout the morning.

It’s a form of behavioral priming where starting with a healthy choice can lead to more conscious decisions about food later on. I thought that was BS but I’m learning that it works!
