After the phone call at the end of Power Book 2: Ghost, viewers are waiting patiently for the team-up of Tommy and Tariq. But when will Tariq appear on Power Book: Force?
Book 2 is done. It lasted 4 seasons with Tariq getting everything he wanted. Now he’s on his way to help his uncle in whatever mess Tommy finds himself in. But the timelines are just a bit off between the two shows, it’s now a guessing game.
With Power known to take breaks between episodes, what could happen is that we get the build-up of the Power crossover at the mid-season finale. At that point, we will get the scene where Tommy calls Tariq following the aftermath of what happened between him, the Tejada’s, Noma, and Detective Carter. That’s how it will all make sense.
What we have to remember is that we have no idea how much time passed following the deadly airport shootout and that phone call. Not much time I’m guessing as Tariq was just laying down the foundation for his new empire. He just informed Effie and Brayden what roles they would play and then took the call. So, Tommy calling Tariq for help, means that at the moment he just has Effie and Brayden on his team. He has not yet assembled a real killer squad.
What could happen they could help him tip the scales in his new allegiance with Chinedu. He has the power to give Tariq soldiers. But will he be willing to let Tariq lead them into a war that means nothing to their business dealings in New York?
Tariq just escaped a dangerous cat-and-mouse game but what Tommy has going on in Chicago is way more high stakes. While Tariq has killed before, Power: Force is on some grown-man shit. Is Tariq built for all that? Hell, Brayden wants to play the role of Gangster but he’s not like that. Effie tried to take out Lauren but even that had her shook. She has the brainpower and computer smarts but none of those instantly scream survival skills in Chicago.
The person that Tariq needs is Cane. He needs another cutthroat person like Tommy. This is not one of those fights where intelligence can win. Those Chicago cats are playing for keeps and they’re doing so with brute force.
The more we start to break this down, the more it makes sense. Yes, merging the two shows is smart with both in their final seasons but merging the two empires, how does any of this help Tommy? Tariq just got everything he wanted and there is a good chance he will meet his demise by helping Tommy.
What kept Tariq alive on his show was mainly Monet. If it was up to Cane, he would have killed Tariq. These kids have never been out of the city like that. They know the streets of New York and if Tommy is calling for help, that means that shit has hit the fans and he’s desperate. There is no real promise that even he can keep Tariq safe.
