In case you missed it women’s sports is HERE now and new fans are jumping on the bandwagon and enjoying the wave. The LPGA has been around for a while and has had its share of stars like the great Annika Sorenstam who broke her share of records and barriers. But, 2024 has been all about Nelly Korda who is stacking up the wins, and bringing a spotlight to the women’s golf game. As a former Olympic gold medalist Korda has moved from a bright kid to the world’s number-ranked golfer, all at the age of 25.
Whereas the men’s game is mostly about smashing the ball off the tee, the women’s game showcases the touch and skill, patience, needed to be a great golfer. The recent success has to feel so good after she got a serious health scare dealing with a blood clot in her arm that put playing on the back burner. She has really leveled up the following of the LPGA and brands have taken notice with her deals with the likes of Nike, Taylor Made, and Goldman Sachs. With a battle between LIV Golf and the PGA along with Tiger Woods NOT being the Tiger of old, this is a perfect time to see what the LPGA has to offer. Yesterday she was in a battle with Hannah Green in New York at the Mizuho America’s Open. That was her 6th win in 7 starts and also and it was a grind which she recognized after the match “I mean, there is something special about the grind of not having your best stuff and then still mentally being able to pull it off,” Korda said.

Her success on the golf course has opened other doors for her as we saw her crush it at the Met Gala with a look we are still discussing. Sports fans love winners and she is doing just that while keeping a tight grip on that number-one ranking. The tour has a week off and then they hit Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the Women’s U.S. Open. Grabbing that for win number 7 and the record for the most wins in a season is 13 a number she could reach. Only 6 players in tour history have won 6 times before June.
And if you haven’t yet you need to check out an LPGA event as these ladies are GOOD. Names to watch for who have some juice in their bag:
Brook M. Henderson
Nasa Hataaoka
Lydia Ko
Rose Zhang
This is my third year truly following the tour and it has been so much fun watching the players and the fan numbers continue to grow weekly. I look forward to the upcoming events and also having the chance to write about them. Who knows maybe I will make my way up to Lancaster next week. Until next time hit’em straight.
