The Boston Celtics are loaded and really have no excuse to win the championship this year. Anything less than that would be a failed season. They just went on a ten-game win streak then lost two in a row against Cleveland and Denver. They seem to have some great regular seasons but when it matters the most lately they seem to choke in the playoffs. The star players Tatum and Brown seem to collapse because the pressure is too much for them or something. Sort of like how the Buffalo Bills are with Josh Allen.
The Boston Celtics and Buffalo Bills are similar
The Buffalo Bills would always have some dominant seasons with Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen. But when it came to playoff time things would crumble in Buffalo and would lose to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the playoffs. This has happened since 2020 Colin Cowherd made this comparison and I kind of like it. He is right, the Celtics have the championship team on paper to win it all but mentally they can’t hang in there in the playoffs. Miami isn’t afraid of them, Denver isn’t afraid of them, and even the Warriors aren’t afraid of them even though the Celtics just beat them by fifty points last Sunday. Can they do that in the NBA Finals? They couldn’t two years ago.
The Boston Celtics and Buffalo Bills both choke in the playoffs.
Just like Josh Allen and the Bills they can beat Mahomes and the Chiefs in the regular season but in the playoffs, they choke and the Bills have more talent! Mahomes had no receivers this past season other than tight end Travis Kelce and they still beat Buffalo to play in the Super Bowl. Same with Boston they are the more talented team but maybe not the most mentally tough team like Denver is.
We’ll find out in the playoffs but the Jaylen Brown Jayson Tatum duo is running out of time in Boston do people really think these two will finish their entire careers here? Nope, Brown and Tatum are friends with Kyrie Irving who Boston hates. Tatum looks up to Kobe Bryant and will probably be a Laker later in his career. Here was the quote from Colin Cowherd the other day
“Boston hammers a lot of teams by a lot all the time. I’ve been watching Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and either Marcus Smart or Jrue Holiday blow out teams for three seasons,” Cowherd said. “They lead the NBA in point-differential this year and they led the NBA in point-differential last year. They were second in point-differential in 2021. I got one trip to the Finals where they had a lead and blew it, and no trophies. They are becoming the Buffalo Bills, I’m sorry.”
Can the Celtics silence that narrative when it matters the most? Doesn’t matter if you have a great regular season if you fail in the playoffs. Like I said you are running out of time with the two of the best players in the league who really probably want to win a championship and leave. It would benefit Tatum and Brown to win a championship in Boston so they can prove to other teams they can get it done when it matters the most.
