It’s all fun and games until Colorado Football crashes the party, right? The Colorado Buffaloes are 2-0 in their first season under new coach Deion Sanders and to top that off, they’re nationally ranked. And the disturbing part for the rest of College Football is that this is just the beginning.
Let’s say Colorado stumbles and loses the rest of their games this season. I highly doubt that will happen but let’s just say it does. Does that mean that Sanders has failed? Nope. Colorado won just one game last season and already, Sanders has doubled that, has the school ranked, and upset a Top 25 opponent.
And let’s not forget that Colorado Football is officially back on the map. In their first 2 games this season, they have been featured on Fox Sports with a huge national draw. The TV execs are not fools. They hopped on the bandwagon quickly. But here is the icing on the cake. Colorado Football is only going to get better.
This season is all about the transfers and returning players who wanted to put in that work. What happens when Sanders and his team are sitting in the same living rooms as Alabama, Georgia, USC, Michigan, Ohio State, and others? This is what CFB should be worried about.
As great as the team has played, they are still suffering a bit on the defensive side and with their ground game. Yes, they have a true freshman running the ball but imagine how potent that offense could be if they can nab a 5-Star back. You know, the same back that Alabama and Georgia are fighting for.
Can Colorado Football Compete With Alabama
With Colorado winning and attention being drawn to Boulder, Sanders doesn’t need a strong pitch. This is not Jackson State. Colorado is in the Power 5 and they can contend for a National Championship with the right talent. While the top players are fighting for playing time at the bigger-name school, they can take the road less traveled at Colorado.
Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have NFL written all over them. However, if they decide to stay another season and Prime can get the top recruits in, and maybe some transfers, things could get ugly quickly for the rest of the nation.
Watching Colorado Football is fun for the fans but not so much for Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and the other top programs that stay atop the CFB Polls.
To win in college, coaching matters but so does having a plethora of talent. The reason the same teams stay in the top 5-10 is because winning brings talent. Now there’s a new sheriff in town and one who can relate to these high school kids on a level that maybe a Saban can’t. Deion was them. Hell, his sons are still one of them and Hunter is also. It was Hunter who turned down Florida State to go to an HBCU to play for Sanders. It was Hunter who left Jackson State to continue to play for Deion when he took the job at Colorado. Do you think these high school kids haven’t noticed that?
You think they haven’t heard the rumors and now they’re seeing the production on the field. No matter what happens the rest of the season, Colorado Football is in a good place and in very good hands. Just wait till next year. It’s about to get really wild.
