Let’s face it the San Diego Padres should be much better than they are. The Padres are 27-32 and 13-17 at home. You have a team that is stacked offensively selling out most of your home games and you’re under .500 at home. That’s pathetic. The Padres played a four-game series with the Cubs this past weekend. They lose on Friday, win Saturday 8-0, then lose again on Sunday 7-1. There is zero excuse for them to be this inconsistent on a daily basis. Someone needs to get to them and it sure isn’t the borefest of a manager in Bob Melvin.

Juan Soto spoke after Sunday’s game and said this.

“It’s pretty tough,” Soto said. “We try our best to pick up our pitching staff. After Weathers came out, they did a good job. They tried to hold us as much as they can. … It’s pretty frustrating. We just couldn’t help the team as much as we can. But it is what it is. We start tomorrow.”

The Padres Have A Disconnect

The is what it is attitude is for bad teams. Not teams built to win a World Series now. The Padres finished the month of April 15-12, May 10-16, and have started the month of June at 2-2. Not the best time to have the well I got my money now I can coast. That’s not how it works and not only is on the players to perform but the coaches to lift them up. Provide the spark.

Soto was then asked about the inconsistent of the offense. This was his response

“I don’t think I’m the guy to respond to that question. I think we have those guys down there. They know better than me. I don’t know. I really don’t know what is going on…”

Who is he talking about? The coaches? Manager? The front office? I guarantee it’s the manager and some of his coaches.

The Padres have zero spark from Melvin. The guy brings nothing I’m not really sure what he does I don’t see him engage with players during the games in the dugout. Only when someone scores or hits a home run. Other than that he’s just a complete bore. In one run games this season the Padres are 3-11. You have Tatis, Macahdo, Soto, Bogaerts, and you’re 3-11 in one run games. There is no excuse for that with that amount of talent in the lineup. That is on the manager not getting the most out of his players, and on the players by not executing and giving up in game.

Boring Melvin had this to say after Machado’s first game back from the injured list and he went 0-4.

“He hits one ball hard, he had some pretty good swings,” Melvin said. “But look, it was our entire lineup. We had some key guys up there at key times. We just didn’t get it through. I mean, it’s gonna take a little time for him to feel great at the plate. But I thought some of his swings were really good. And they were aggressive.”

Not sure when Melvin is going to take accountability for the stacked team he has and they aren’t producing. I still say this is Melvin’s last season.
