As of today DC United sits in 6th place in the Eastern Conference, this is not a typo and with the run of play lately going up the table is a very real thing. A packed Audi Field saw the black and red get a 3-0 win over a free-falling L.A. Galaxy team. Lift your nose all you want but when you are looking to change a culture and build momentum these are the wins you need to win. In their last 7 matches, we sit with a record of 4W-1L-2D and I will take it as I’m sure most fans and a few people in the organization would. With 21 matches left if the playoffs started today the club would be IN. Typing that and saying it is amazing.
Most thought that when Christian Benteke left the English Premier League for the MLS it would be another overpaid past his-prime DC United signing. Well, at age 31 he is still playing at a solid level and has been the strong striker the club has needed for a long time. Being one of the many new faces on the squad it all comes with what manager Wayne Rooney is building with the club.
DC United Making A Move Up The Standings
After a draw against the Philadelphia Union, they carried that positive mojo to the match. Have we reached the point with this team that when they play bad teams 3 points should be expected? YES, we have! The upcoming trip to Toronto is another opportunity to grab 3 points and show the rest of the league what they are all about.
Even the national media is paying attention as DC United jumped 6 spots in the MLS league power rankings to number 10. You can say the numbers aren’t anything to make you jump out of your seat but the results are and so is the effort. If you haven’t already make the trip to Audi Field and take in a game in person or grab MLS Season pass on Apple TV and support the home team.
With new clubs and exciting play every matchday this MLS season has been so enjoyable. Make sure to stick with Team NBS Media for more league coverage. And until next time Vamos United.
