Well, that was fast, wasn’t it? The year 2021 is almost at an end and we shine the spotlight on fitness one last time. As people finish off those fitness goals and get new ones ready for the new year we meet a young lady who is always on beat. I think it’s safe to say nothing like a global pandemic to have you look in the mirror and make some healthy changes. It also makes you seize every moment and do what you love. Our final fitness interview of 2021 is doing just that using a passion to help others live their best life. With a growing online presence and through her online classes and modeling we go to France and get to know Tara.
Joe Cardoso: Growing up was playing sports and dance a big part of life?
Tara: Yes, I started to play sports at the age of 10, I was riding horses, swimming, doing badminton, I tried several sports, to finally dance for 5 years. Then having a hard time looking in the mirror during my dance class, I started fitness in order to have a physique that would allow me to be better.
JC: At what point in life did you fall in love with fitness?
T: I can not say I fell in love with fitness. Fitness has allowed me to build the body I have today and to feel better as well as become rigorous in many aspects of my life. But my first love was always dancing.
Nevertheless, for two years, I went to the gym every day at 6 o’clock in the morning and I can say that having a routine helped me a lot. I’ve been going to the gym for 7 years now. ( but not at 6 anymore haha )
JC: Was being a trainer always the plan?
T: Not at all! I studied languages, marketing, communication. However, I always did sports in parallel and I think that this job was just the logical next step. I developed a concept on Youtube that combines dance and fitness and I’m so passionate about it! I am graduating this year so I can give group lessons live!
JC: Staying as busy as you do, what does a normal day look like?
T: My days aren’t the same at all! On Monday I can do content all day, on Tuesday I will work on my projects and stay on the computer all day, on Wednesday I will create choreographies for YouTube, plan my YouTube videos over the next few months, On Thursdays, I can doa little bit of content and do some accounting or other business management work. It’s not easy every day, but I like everything!
JC: What is it about dance that makes you love it? Anyone can see quickly that music is important to you.
T: When I listen to music and I feel that it makes me vibrate, I can listen to it and listen to it over and over again. Besides, this is how I create my training on Youtube, when a piece of music inspires me, I dance without thinking, it comes naturally. The dance allows me to express myself, it’s something I feel inside of me that is inexplicable.
JC: How important is it for you to be a woman of African-Caribbean culture in this world of fitness?
T: I am African American and I am very proud of it. In France, we do not have many black fitness representatives. I think it’s important that this develops because we all need to be inspired and we all need examples that we can identify with in order to be motivated. I’m so happy to inspire thousands of people every day from all around the world. The message I want to convey through my workouts is that we are all citizens of the earth no matter where we come from.
JC: What goes into how you pick who to and not to work with?
T: What helps me a lot in choosing who I work with is the energies, either I feel a person, or I don’t feel it. Energy never lies.
JC: In the year 2022 you want to do more of_____, and less of _______?
In 2022, I have big projects coming, so more work, more fun, more dancing, and less doubt!
JC: When not working what are you doing to relax and unwind?
T: When I don’t work, I dance, I read, I watch animal documentaries or about the universe. I like to try new things, new activities. And of course, traveling.
JC: Favorite place to go on vacation and why?
T: I love to go to places with lots of nature, but the thing I love the most is diving. I enjoy discovering underwater universes, fish, I find it really fascinating! I like to surf as well so definitely somewhere with water!
JC: Who is Tara?
T: Tara is a young entrepreneur, who enjoys life, likes to smile, dance, travel, and has a joy of living! She is an epicurean but has her head on right, a long-time sportswoman who wants to live from her passion. Tara is a woman who works hard to make her dreams come true, loves to be surrounded by the people she loves because it’s so important these days. She loves what she is doing and is so excited to see what life has to offer! She is also working on a new project that is coming in January 2022 and is experiencing the real world of work. Can’t wait to see what will happen in 2022!
JC: When NOT working what are you doing to relax and unwind?
T: I dance, I always dance even if it’s to go to a dance class, it allows me to learn more. Otherwise, I love to read and watch animals, planet, and health documentaries.
