Luka Doncic and something quite special last night. He was the reason why the Dallas Mavericks beat the Boston Celtics 113-108.
Doncic finished the game with 36 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while shooting 7- of-11 from 3- point distance. Doncic had 24 points in the first half while only attempted 15 shots throughout the entire game.
Doncic had his way with the Boston Celtics defense. He embraced the big moment of playing in the Boston Garden.
At 22, Doncic is already one of the top players in the NBA. The Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle emphasized that his overall game was spectacular.
“The bottom line is it’s a very good win”, added Carlisle, whose team improved to 25-21.
Any time you beat Boston twice in one year that’s a good thing, means you’ve played some good basketball.
The Mavericks lead most of the game. However, the Celtics fought back in the game and they only trailed 109-107 with 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Despite, Doncic’s 36- point night he still got some help from his teammates. Brunson, scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, including four free three throws in the last 11 seconds of the game.
The Mavericks also got help from their center Kristaps Porzingis who scored 19 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists, and two steals.
After the tough loss, the Celtics are now 23-25. They are a few games under 500 and it seems like they just can’t get it together this season.
The Celtics had high hopes coming into the season after their deep playoff run in the bubble last season. They went to the Eastern Conference last year and lost to the Miami Heat in six games.
The Celtics are underachieving especially since they’re the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.
[pickup_prop id=”4476″]Jayson Tatum finished the game with 25 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Jalen Brown added 24 points and Walker scored 22 points.
The Celtics top three players all scored over 20 points and it still wasn’t enough because they lacked defensive.
They had no answer for Doncic who just had his way with the Celtics defense.
The Celtics head coach Brad Stevens is on the hot seat. Watching the Celtics, it seems like they need a new voice in the locker room.
Stevens is a good coach but sometimes in sports, a new voice may be the best thing for the team.
Danny Ainge also hasn’t been doing his best job as the Celtics general manager. The Celtics added Evan Fournier from Orlando Magic.
The addiction of Fournier will not make Boston a serious title contender in the Eastern Conference.
Will the Celtics make the playoffs this season or will they make a deep playoff run?
This off-season could be some changes for the Celtics, and it starts with Brad Stevens.
The Boston Celtics will play the Houston Rockets on Friday, and the Mavericks will be playing the Knicks on Friday as well.
