Call me spoiled, but…
Was there any doubt that Tiger Woods was going to win at Zozo Championship?
Of course not!
In his first start in nine weeks, which was also his first start since offseason knee surgery, Tiger shot 19 under par and no round worse than 67.
There was not any doubt that Tiger was going to roll in that 8-footer on the last hole, which will make that indelible moment run on a loop for the next six months.
This thing could have gotten a whole lot more interesting early in the restart.
As many of the fans were rooting for the local hero, Hideki Matsuyama.
Tiger bogeyed his first hole out of the gates and then Matsuyama stuffed it to 5 feet on 14.
That could have cut the deficit to just one shot with four holes remaining.
Instead … Matsuyama shoved it, and Tiger rolled in a 20-footer for birdie.
He never trailed by fewer than two the rest of the way.
Tiger won the rain-hit tournament, Zozo Championship beating the local favorite, Hideki Matsuyama by three strokes at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club.
With the win, Tiger Woods has tie Sam Snead’s PGA Tour record of 82 victories.
