48 hours after the Toronto Raptors won their first ever NBA title, Los Angeles and LeBron James are stealing the NBA headlines. The Lakers sent Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart along with three first-round draft picks, including the No. 4 selection in the 2019 NBA draft, to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis. Ball was the 2nd overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft and Ingram was the 2nd overall pick in 2016. The Lakers could potentially give up FIVE first round picks for the man they call,”The Unibrow”
Over the past three seasons Davis has averaged 27.3 points,11.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. The 6’10, 26-year old could be the best big man in the game today. But did the Lakers give up too much? Well that all depends. If LeBron and crew go out and land a Kyrie Irving or Kemba Walker they should be the favorites in the Western Conference. Look for LA to add another shooter to their roster as well. Rodney Hood would be a perfect fit. Their starting line up could be
PG Kyrie Irving/Kemba Walker
SG Rodney Hood
SF Kyle Kuzma
PG LeBron James
C Anthony Davis
That starting five would have the number 1 offense in the NBA and their length and size would be a top 10 defense and a great rebounding team.
I don’t think any player, in any sport, is worth 5 potential first round draft picks. But…
The Los Angeles Lakers, who finished 10th in the Western Conference with a 37-45 record in 2018-19, are 4-1 favorites to win the 2019-20 NBA title, per Caesars Palace:
