What is going on Hoya fans? The team we love but also sometimes don’t care for has us all pulling our hair out one minute and jumping off the sofa next. These are the 2018-19 Georgetown Hoyas, and they are anything but boring. Sitting at 6-7 in conference play and 16-10 overall the young Hoyas are growing and maybe, just maybe it all came together last night with a blowout win against defending champion, Villanova Wildcats. A lot of things that haven’t happened in years happened last night.

First win vs. a top 25 team since 2017
Coach Ewing first win was a top 25 squad
First home win vs. Villanova since 2015

Having not been in the postseason the last three years this was a true MUST win and keeps hope alive. After that ugly loss to Seton Hall and dropping the Butler game, getting back on track had to happen and what better way than at home. Looking like the Golden State Warriors of the Big East they shot the lights out early hitting seven from downtown. Mac McClung and his headband went off for 17pts to go along with another strong performance from Jessie Govan with his 8th double-double of the year

Having already won more games than last year some people are happy with that alone, I am not one of those people I want more. All making the postseason will do is add to the experience these players need and the shine the program wants. It was nice last night to see some guys who haven’t had the minutes get on the floor and have an impact. Outscoring the Nova bench 22-9. Hopefully, that effort carries over to the Creighton game on Saturday. People on the national stage are starting to pay attention to this team.

James Akinjo can’t be forgotten kid is making solid plays for others and letting the game come to him more and more. Sounds corny but in the case of this team it is very true one game at a time and build off each contest, nothing is a given. Until next week fans let’s get this win on Saturday and Hoya Saxa!! Joe Cardoso

Joe Cardoso here! I’m the epitome of a sports junkie. An alum of the College of Southern Maryland, I received a diploma from the Maryland Institute of Broadcasting (MIB). During my tenure at MIB, I was a news/sports major and had the opportunity to intern at Fox 45 sports and Ravens Radio. I also worked as an overnight board operator for Sports Talk 980 ESPN Radio. I’ve been a total sports fanatic pretty much from the womb. My first love is soccer followed by basketball and then football. My favorite athletes are Kevin Garnett and Marino Rivera and my sports teams are the Yankees, Commanders, Michigan, Wizards, and Chelsea. My passion for sports is never ending. My sister once commented that I would probably follow pig racing if it was a sport!
