I have watched college football religiously, every Saturday for the past 15 years. I can not remember a weekend where the games were this close, this intense, and this exciting.

5 Thing We Learned About College Football:

Is this the last of Spencer Rattler starting in Oklahoma?

No.6 Oklahoma was trailing No.21 Texas 28-7 after the first quarter. The Sooners proceeded to outscore the Longhorns,35-10 to defeat Texas, 55-48. The Sooners (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) appeared to be trying to set up for a game-ending field goal when Kennedy Brooks ran for a 33-yard romp with 3 seconds left to play. Caleb Williams completed 15 of 24 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns after replacing Spencer Rattler, who had two turnovers in the first half. Willaims did not play quarterback last season because of Covid. The fact that he was able to come off the bench against Texas and lead them to a victory is bad news for Rattler. Spencer’s career may be over in Oklahoma.

History was made when #1 Alabama lost to Texas A&M 41-38.

Nick Saban’s undefeated streak against former assistant coaches has now come to an end. Prior to Saturday night’s loss against Jimbo Fisher, Saban was 24-0 against former assistants. His record is now 24-1. Alabama lost, 41-38 to Texas A&M. This game had so many momentum changes. A&M led 24-10 at halftime.  Alabama outscored their opponents 28-17 in the second half but could not hold on to the lead. Saban still has a great chance to make the Final Four playoff despite the one loss.

Georgia is the best team in the country:

Kirby Smart has been close to winning a national championship. This season could be the year for the Bulldogs. No.2 Georgia defeated No.18 Auburn, 34-10. The Georgia defense has been lights out all season long.

Georgia’s Defense:

  • Clemson scored 3 points.
  • UAB scored 7 points.
  • South Carolina scored 13 points.
  • Vanderbilt scored 0 points.
  • Arkansas scored 0 points.
  • Auburn 10 points.

No.3 Iowa defeated the No.4 Penn State,23-30 in front of a sold-out black and gold stadium of 69,250 fans. The Hawkeyes are now 6-0 and have won 12 straight games. This was the first time since 1985 that Iowas has defeated a top-5 team. The last time this happened was when they beat No.2 Michigan.

How good is Kentucky and how bad is LSU?

The Wildcats dominated the LSU Tigers, 42-21. They were up 28-7 going into the 4th quarter. Kentucky is 6-0.  In 2019, Ed Orgeron led LSU to a 15-0 record and a national championship. Last season his team went 5-5 and this year they are 3-3. If they do not win 9 games, he could be fired at the end of the season.

Bonus Coverage:

No. 9 Michigan defeated Nebraska, 32-29.  The Wolverines are 6-0. They still have to play Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State.

No. 17 Ole Miss held on to beat No.13 Arkansas, 52-51. This game was insane. The teams combined for 41 points in the 4th quarter.

Monte’s Top 5 Power Ranking:

5) Alabama

4) Cincinnatti

3) Oklahoma

2) Iowa

1) Georgia
