5 Things We Learned About Week 5 In The NFL

Going into the season many so called “experts thought the NFC East would be the most competitive division in all of football. It has been just the opposite.

Giants and the Redskins are tied for 23rd in points per game.
The Eagles are 25th in points per game.
The Cowboys are 30th in points per game.

5 Things We Learned About Week 5 In The NFL:

5)Titans fall flat in Buffalo: The Tennessee Titans were “flying high” going into Buffalo. They were coming up two straight wins against the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles. This was a classic trap game and the Titans failed the test. I blame this game on Tennessee’s quarterback Marcus Mariota. He was 14 for 26 for 129 yards and 1 interception. These are the type of games where your quarterback has to carry his team to victory. Mariota didn’t do that. The offense only mustered 4 FG’s against a below average Buffalo team. The Titans quarterback, the offensive coaches and entire offensive squad didn’t show up.

4)The Miami Dolphins are sinking like the Titanic: The Dolphins were up 17-0 to the Cincinnati Bengals before letting up 27 straight points. Miami gave up 24 points in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins have no lost 2 straight and play a hot Chicago Bears team on Sunday. This team is in a tailspin and won’t get out of it anytime soon.

3)Are the Cleveland Browns are a good football team?: The Browns are 2-2-1. The two games they lost were to The New Orleans Saints, 21-18 and to the Oakland Raiders, 45-42. They could easily be undefeated. I don’t think the Browns will make the playoffs but they should win 6 or more games. Baker Mayfield is a franchise quarterback.

2)There is something not right in Green Bay: The Packers have a record of 2-3 and they haven’t played well all season long. Green Bay lost to Detroit 31-23 on Sunday. Mason Crosby missed four field goal attempts. The Packers are moving the ball, averaging 401 yards per game, but they just aren’t scoring. They are 18th in the NFL, averaging 23 points per game. This is a team that is usually in the top 5 in points scored. Head coach Mike McCarthy is on the hot-seat and rightly so.

1)The Patriots are back on track: After starting the season 1-2 the Patriots are now 3-2. Over the past two weeks they have 76 points and they appear to be trending upwards. New England will host the 5-0 Chiefs Sunday night. The Patriots should win this game in a shootout. Tom Brady became the 3rd player in the history of the NFL to throw for 500 touchdown passes

The 2-3 Jets defeated the 2-3 Broncos 34-16. Isaiah Crowell rushed for 219 yards.

The Steelers defeated the (1-4) Falcons 41-17. Running back James Connor had 185 yards from scrimmage and scored two touchdowns. Connor has filled in nicely for hold out Le’Veon Bell. The Steelers are now 10-1-1 in their last 12 games against Atlanta.

The Vikings defeated the Eagles 23-21 in a re-match of last year’s NFC Championship Game. Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has 100 receiving yards in each of his first 5 games.

The Cardinals have won 7 straight games over the San Francisco 49ers.

The Rams are 5-0 for the first time since 2001.

Drew Brees passed Brett Favre and Peyton Manning to become the NFL’s all team leader in passing yards.
