Since 2007, 91 teams have started the NFL Season 0-2. Only 10 (10.9 percent) of them turned their season around to make the playoffs. Below is a list of 0-2 teams
- Buffalo Bills
- Houston Texans
- Oakland Raiders
- New York Giants
- Detroit Lions
- Arizona Cardinals
- Seattle Seahawks
5 Things We Learned About Week 2 In The NFL:
5) Buffalo Bills player quits and retires at half-time:
The Bills were down 28-6 at halftime on Sunday to the San Diego Chargers. Over the first 6 quarters of the 2018 NFL Season the Bills were outscored 75-9. It got so bad that a Bills player walked out on his team. Vontae Davis quit the team at half-time. Davis issued a lengthy statement posted on the NFL’s Twitter account, announcing he is retiring after 10 seasons.”This isn’t how I pictured retiring from the NFL,” he wrote. “But today on the field, reality hit me and hard. I shouldn’t be out there anymore.” Buffalo is starting to make the Cleveland Browns look like a stable organization.
4) Same ole Jets:
The Jets came into Sunday’s home game against the Miami Dolphins feeling great about their team.. They won their first game against the Detroit Lions 48-17. All that ended by half-time when the Jets were down 20-0. This is the same ole story for Jets fans. This organization has a history of taking one step forward and two steps back. The Jets are built for the future. They have a young core of players including a 21-year-old quarterback. Sam Darnold became the youngest player in the history of the NFL to throw for over 300 yards. The only question going into the off-season… Will Todd Bowles be back on the sidelines? He has a combined record of 21-29.
3) Have we seen the last of Jameis Winston in Tampa Bay?
Jameis Winston was the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. To say he has been a bust is an understatement. Winston has started 45 games. He has a record of 18-27, completed 60% of his passes and has 69 touchdowns and 59 turnovers ( 44 interceptions and 15 lost fumbles). Winston is serving a 3-game suspension. Back-up quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has led the Bucs to a 2-0 start. Fitz has completed 78.7% of his passes and has 8 touchdown passes in two games. The players and coaches love Fitzpatrick’s professionalism and work ethic. The Bucs have a plethora of talent on offense and are clicking on all cylinders. Fitz should remain the starter and Winston should be traded.
2) The nightmare is real in Oakland and his name is Chucky:
The Oakland Raiders signed head coach Jon Gruden to a 10-year $100 million contract. The Raiders lost to the Rams, in week 1, 34-13. On Sunday, they lost to the Broncos 20-19. The last time Gruden coached was 2008 and it shows. The team continues to struggle offensively despite having elite, skill position players. Gruden has a career record of 95-83. This may turn out to be the worst coaching contract of all-time. I would be shocked if Gruden lasts 6 years in Oakland.
1) Is Patrick Mahomes the MVP?
The Kansas City Chiefs are 2-0. They scored 38 points in their week 1 victory over the San Diego Chargers and 48 points in their week 2 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes made history on Sunday.
Most TD Passes in the first 2 games of the season:
Patrick Mahomes. 2018, 10 TD passes.
Peyton Manning. 2013, 9 TD passes.
Charley Johnson. 1965, 9 TD passes.
Drew Brees. 2009, 9 TD passes.
Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill are two of the fastest wide receivers in the NFL. Travis Kelce is one of the best Tight Ends in the game and Kareem Hunt is a dual threat running back. KC should continue to put up over 30 points per game. The “Mahomes hype” is real and he should have close to 40 TD passes on the season.
Bonus Coverage:
- 19 field goals and extra points were missed on Sunday. Special teams doesn’t appear to be a priority for a lot of NFL Teams
- The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers tied 29 – 29. The officiating was terrible on both sides of the ball. These two teams may meet on the field three times this season.
- The Houston Texas lost to the Tennessee Titans without an inured Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Houston is a bad football team.
- The Jacksonville Jaguars dominated the New England Patriots from start to finish, 31-20.
- The Browns have now gone 631 days without winning a football game and yet they refuse start #1 draft pick, QB, Baker Mayfield.
