We are coming off one of the craziest weeks in the history of the NFL. There were 3 overtime games and 11 games decided by 1 possession.
5 Things We Learned About Week 15:
5) Dolphins and Bills could meet for round 3:
The Buffalo Bills defeated the Miami Dolphins 32-29 on Saturday night on game-winning field goal. The Dolphins and Bills have now faced each other twice and each team won 1 game. The Dolphins upset the bills at home on Sept 25th by the score of 21-19. These two teams are so evenly matched, we could see round three in the playoffs. No defensive coordinator wants to see Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle in the postseason.
4) Trevor Lawrence is a rising star in the NFL:
The Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Dallas Cowboys, 40-34 in overtime. Trevor Lawrence was 27 for 42 for 318 yards and 4 touchdown passes. He is completing 66% of his passes with 28 total touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Lawrence looked lost last year under failed head coach, Urban Meyer. Doug Pederson has this team on the brink of a playoff birth. No one saw that coming this year.
3) Where does Philadelphia go with the Jalen Hurts injury?
The Eagles are 13-1 and on the brink of clinching home-field advantage throughout the playoffs before Hurts suffered a shoulder injury in week 15. Philadelphia defeated Chicago 25-20. Hurts rushed for 3 touchdowns but could miss the next two weeks with a sprained shoulder. Gardner Minshew will start against the Dallas Cowboys and possibly against the New Orleans Saints.
2) The problems with the Atlanta Falcons is Arthur Smith:
For weeks I have been hearing on social media how Marcus Mariota is the problem with the Atlanta Falcons offense. Desmond Ridder made his first start of his NFL Career and he threw for 97 yards. Coming off a bye week, The Falcons offense was atrocious again. Smith coaches like it is 1978, he wants to run the ball 50 times a game. That doesn’t work in the modern NFL. No matter who plays quarterback, no one will have long-term success with him running the franchise.
1) Packers are still alive:
Green Bay has had a roller coaster ride of a season. Early on, they won 3 straight games before losing 7 out of 8. They are now back in the playoff hunt after defeating the LA Rams, 24-12. They have three tough games remaining on their schedule:
- On the road vs. The Dolphins
- Home vs. The Vikings
- Home vs. The Lions
If they win outright, they should make the playoffs. They are still alive.
