It’s been a long time waiting, including a very drawn-out show, but the 2026 FIFA World Cup Draw is complete. Groups A through L are (mostly) full, and the field is set. Half the groups must wait for the completion of the UEFA and FIFA qualifiers, but we know which groups the qualifiers’ winners will be playing in. Now that the groups are mostly known, the countdown is on! We’re 188 days away from the 2026 FIFA World Cup!
With over six months to go until the matches start, we’re not here for an in-depth look at the groups today. However, we will provide some quick facts about the host nations’ groups. Before we get there, though, let’s look at all the groups as drawn:
- Group A – Mexico, South Africa, Korea Republic, UEFA Playoff D Winner (Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, Denmark, North Macedonia)
- Group B – Canada, UEFA Playoff A Winner (Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Qatar, Switzerland
- Group C – Brazil, Morocco, Haiti, Scotland
- Group D – USA, Paraguay, Australia, UEFA Playoff C Winner (Slovakia, Kosovo, Turkey, Romania)
- Group E – Germany, Curaçao, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador
- Group F – Netherlands, Japan, UEFA Playoff B Winner (Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, Albania), Tunisia
- Group G – Belgium, Egypt, IR Iran, New Zealand
- Group H – Spain, Cabo Verde, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay
- Group I – France, Senegal, FIFA Playoff Two Winner (Bolivia, Suriname, Iraq)
- Group J – Argentina (defending champs), Algeria, Austria, Jordan
- Group K – Portugal, FIFA Playoff One Winner (New Caledonia, Jamaica, Congo DR), Uzbekistan, Colombia
- Group L – England, Croatia, Ghana, Panama

As we get closer to the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we will have a deeper analysis of each group. However, since we’re just so excited to be one of the host nations, we’ll give you a little something, something about each host nation group! So, let’s start with Group A.
Group A – Mexico

While I wouldn’t say Mexico’s group is as easy as the USA’s, it’s a group that they have a realistic shot of winning. As of today, going into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Mexico is ranked 15th, South Africa is 61st, Korea Republic is 22nd, and no other potential country from the playoff is higher than 21st.
If Denmark makes it out of the playoffs, it becomes a much tougher group. Even then, if they’re in form, Mexico should finish as, at least, the second-best team in the group. Unfortunately for them, they have a 0-3- 2 record in their last five matches. That will need to be better heading into June 2026.
Group B – Canada

The Canucks might have the toughest group of the three host nations. Canada is the lowest-ranked host nation team at 27th. As for the rest of the group, Qatar is ranked 51st, Switzerland is 17th, and Italy is ranked 12th in the playoffs. Right now, I think Group I is the Group of Death. However, if Italy wins their playoffs, you’re looking at the 27th, 51st, 17th, and 12th-ranked teams in one group. If that’s the case, Group B becomes the Group of Death.
One of Canada’s most significant concerns right now is the health of Moise Bombito, who broke his tibia in October playing for OG Nice. It sounds like he’ll be good to go for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but how match fit will he be? I think we’ll know more in about three months.
Group D – USA

Could the draw be better for the USA? Sure, but not much better. Of the three host nations, the most pressure is arguably on the Yanks. They’re the highest-ranked team of the three host nations at 14th. Of the other teams in the group, Paraguay is 39th, Australia is 26th, and no team in the playoffs is higher than 25th (Turkey).
Turkey would be a big concern if they made it out of the playoffs. Turkey defeated the USA back in a friendly in June by a score of 1-2. However, the Red, White, and Blue defeated both Paraguay and Australia in October and November, respectively. The biggest question facing the USMNT is who will make the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
Stay tuned to Team NBS over the next few months as we get closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We will have much more to discuss!
