I welcome all WWE fans to the world of imagination, untouched by the corporate bonds of a publically traded wrestling company or the scarred hands of Triple H (whom I love as a booker). Let’s get crazy and talk about Roman Reigns, his undisputed Universal Championship, and how his glorious run should end. As Reigns approaches the holy grail of 1000 days as champion and potentially being the man to unseat Hulk Hogan’s championship title streak, the future is bright for the tribal chief. However, all things must end, and this is how I think it should go down.
BANISHED! Banished are the Usos, Jimmy and Jey have failed the tribal chief too many times and to let the tag team titles not only fall into the hands of the former honorary uce Sami Zayn but to allow him to keep it is too much for poor Roman to handle. Solo Sikoa has already grown irritable towards his brothers and a separation might be what is needed moving forward.
Upon the banishment of his sons, Rikishi comes to confront Roman on his actions and to remind him and his son Solo what family truly means. The comforting Rikishi is rebuked by the tribal chief who casually mentions the beef in the past between Rikishi and the Rock. Rikishi responds with “That’s all in the past, we’ve moved on as you should with Jimmy and Jey. If Rock were here right now, he’d tell you the same” to which Roman responds “But he isn’t here right now, is he? I am the Tribal Chief, I am the Head of the Table and I am here right now.” Rikishi responds, “For someone who is here, you are never seen. Especially outside the protective bosom that is Paul Heyman. But I don’t judge you for using Paul or Solo. We protect one another and for all that Jimmy and Jey have done to protect you, it is now your responsibility to protect them. My cousin Rodney, when I needed help. When I needed to heat my house, to keep my family, to keep Jimmy and Jey and you Solo, to keep you warm. He came through.” Solo responds with “Dad, I love you. I love Jimmy, I love Jey but I need to do what’s best for the family. That’s Roman’s and my only priority.” “Lies” Rikishi shouts back. “And shame on both of you. We all have lost so much, lost so many who are dear to us. Parents, cousins, uncles, sons, brothers, gone and there’s nothing we can do but now you push away the one’s still here. The ones who would give their lives for you, for us? Shame on you Tribal Chief and shame on you son.” Rikishi storms out as a conflicted Roman Reigns walks away.
As we continue on, Roman holds Solo and Paul Heyman close as those two are the only ones he can trust. Many come after him and many fail. Most who have faced Roman have lost except one…Seth “freakin” Rollins. A controversial victory for Rollins in their last matchup where he won via DQ allowed Reigns to keep the title but it clearly broke a piece of his internal armor. The stoic Reigns lacked composure in their matchup and with Rollins’ continued success, he negotiated a new deal that allows him to brand jump. Rollins eventually puts himself in a position for the title.
Reigns, fearful of yet another loss to Rollins negotiates a triple-threat match between him, Rollins, and Solo Sikoa. Rollins, backed into a corner agrees on one condition. The title can only change hands if Roman gets pinned but if Rollins loses and doesn’t get pinned, he gets a 1 v 1 matchup against the champion at a later date. They all agree. Rollins explains later that he added this stipulation so Roman couldn’t just pin Solo and walk away with his title opportunity.
The match, which is no DQ takes place and Roman gets the upper hand. Essentially operating as a two v one handicap match, Rollins is continually beaten but kicks out of multiple pin attempts. Rollins eventually escapes from the ring where he gets a chair and wacks Solo Sikoa. Roman tries to attack but is swiftly countered, setting Rollins up for a curb stomp outside the ring. Paul Heyman gets involved before getting thrown through an announcer’s table. Sikoa is out like a light as Rollins brings Reigns into the ring. Reigns fights back but Seth curb stomps him. When all seems lost for Roman, Jimmy, and Jey rescue him and fight off Rollins. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn then come down to the ring and dispatch Jimmy and Jey before Solo rises from the ashes and Samoan spikes Sami Zayn. Kevin Owens attacks him from behind before Roman slams him to the ground. Back to the original match, Solo and Roman take their time in punishing Rollins. Roman holds Seth from behind while Solo lines up the Samoan Spike. As Solo’s hand comes down, Rollins ducks out of the way as Solo connects with Reigns, knocking him out. Solo shocked, checks on Reigns while Rollins bounces off the ropes and curb-stomps Solo. With both men on the ground, all Rollins needs to do is pin Reigns and he is champion. However in a twist of events, Rollins drags Solo’s body over Reigns and as the ref counts 1, 2, 3, Solo Sikoa is now the new Universal Champion.
On Friday Night Smackdown, Reigns cashes in his rematch clause and demands Solo give up the title. Rollins reveals why he did what he did. Backstage while the Bloodline with Jimmy and Jey are in the ring, Rollins states “Solo Sikoa, WWE Universal Champion. It must feel nice to have the weight of championship gold around your waist. I mean I know what it feels like, Roman knows what it feels like, Jimmy and Jey knows what it feels like and now so do you. And we all know the bitter feeling of losing a title…well all of us except you. See many are wondering why I did what I did but it’s quite simple, I play the long game. Roman wants you to submit to the tribal chief. To have your own finger poke of doom. You’ll walk out to the ring holding the championship that alluded your father and be forced lay down while the Tribal Chief gets on top of you. And you have to lay there on your back and be forced to take it while the ref counts one, two, three. To be forced to have another man take your title from you. When this happens, the Bloodline will be no more. It will just be Roman and his bitch. Another dominant stable destroyed by Seth “freakin” Rollins.”
Eventually Roman and Solo make their way down to the ring and when Roman demands that Solo lay down, Solo hits him with a Samoan Spike and retains the title. Solo, the new tribal chief brings back Jimmy and Jey while banishing Roman from the Bloodline. Paul Heyman sticks with Solo while Roman is left as a pariah in WWE.
Seth then gets his match against Solo and loses. Solo goes on a winning streak that lasts until Wrestlemania. In the meantime, Roman goes on to win Money in the Bank but suffers a kayfabe injury that takes him out for “6 months.” He’s allowed to keep the briefcase. At Wrestlemania, it’s Solo versus Rollins again after Rollins wins the Royal Rumble. Rollins beats Solo and when he celebrates, he’s attacked by Roman Reigns. Reigns surprise comeback is completed by cashing in Money in the Bank, beating Rollins (finally) in a way that mirrors Rollins’ first title run, and is once again WWE Universal Champion.
