We have a ton of choices about what shows we watch and don’t watch. From family to co-workers, we get hit over the head with “must-watch” content. Well, add another one to the list, Will Trent. It just ended season 3 and has been locked in for a 4th season. It is based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling books, the series follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). As a child, Trent was abandoned and forced to grow up in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. Now that he is in a position to make a difference, Trent uses his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was. His motivation and background contribute to Will Trent having the highest clearance rate in the GBI.
The cast is GREAT, Ramón Rodriguez plays Will Trent, and he is joined by Erika Christensen, Jake McLaughlin, and Sonja Sohn, to name a few. From his sharp suits, quick wit, and cute dog Ramón owns the character. This past season, we were introduced to Gina Rodriguez and Scott Foley, great additions. Each episode in some way showcases the vibes and feel of Atlanta, from the locations to the music, you get the feeling of the city. Will and Angie have been friends for years, and now work together; they have an on-and-off-again relationship. Faith Mitchell, played by Lantha Richardson, is a single mom and also the daughter of a cop fighting to make a name for herself. She did not want to be Will’s partner, but they found a way to make it work. All the characters are played really well and build a family of sorts with ups and downs, as with any family.
The show does a good job of finding a way to dive into the cast each episode, sometimes it’s a scene here or there, or an entire episode. Battles with addiction, self-doubt, and life overall. I love how they use a different graphic to display the show’s name each week, sounds stupid but it is cool and also one of those quirks that makes the show different from the rest. This isn’t one of those shows that tries to beat you over the head with life lessons like some lame after-school special, it is just raw and real-life stuff that all of us deal with in some way or another.
Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger, so fans and I can’t wait for the 2026 debut to see what happens next. From musical numbers, tributes to General Hospital, and guest stars from Atlanta like Big Boi of Outkast, this show has it all. Give it a go and let me know what you think, if nothing else Will’s dog Betty will have you falling in love with her.

I have Watched this already and I’m obsessed! I even started reading the books! And even now that season 3 has ended I find myself rewatching Will Trent just because. I definitely can’t wait for next season for sure!
