Winning nine out their first ten games was the easy part for the Kansas City Chiefs and – rightfully so, their fans are thinking Super Bowl.
QB Patrick Mahomes is the real deal, but the first year starting phenom will be facing a different kind of challenge in the AFC tittle game.
How to deal with the Super Bowl expectations is the next hurdle, plus…
Dealing with New England Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick, which means that the quick-passing plays to get the football in the hands of playmakers and the deep throws down the field opportunities aren’t going be there as often as before.
The AFC Championship game is where head coach Andy Reid will really need to come through for his young quarterback, in spite of his track record.
There is no we will get ’em next week, guys…in the playoffs.
Ignore all the obligatory NFL Andy Reid Coaching Tree stories. These are the facts and as they say in court…they’re indisputable:
a) Yes! Reid has mentor other good coaches and they have move on to accomplish great things with other teams in the NFL, but…
b) No! Reid does not have a good track record when it comes down to the Big Game.
Personally speaking I have seen this act before.
When he coached the Philadelphia Eagles, team owner Jeffrey Lurie went out and got the best team that money can buy, which was labeled around the NFL as THE Super Team, but Reid coach them to 8-8 in 2011 and 4-12 in 2012 records, so Jeffrey Lurie fired him for underachieving.
My advice to all Kansas City Chiefs’ fans?
Keep your fingers crossed ’till you see Patrick Mahomes lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy!
