It’s been decades since Roc-A-Fella records went to the bottom of the ocean. Business partners, Jay Z, Dame Dash, and Kareem Burkes parted ways back in 2004, and since then, rumors, accusations, slander, lies, truths, and whatever else you want to call it, have been circulating throughout the internet, and people’s mouths. And here we are 20 years later and Dame Dash says he wouldn’t turn down a sit down with Jay Z to air their differences out.
To be fair, who wouldn’t? Dash knows exactly what he’s doing and sadly, so does Jay Z. There is no reason for Jay to want to sit down with Dame at all. If you’re Jay, what’s the reason for this meeting?
No one but those 3 really knows what transpired and caused one of the biggest Hip Hop labels ever to disband. But if you let Dash tell it, Jay was backstabbing and selfish. But where is Jay’s story on what happened? While Burke was once on the outs with Jay, they made their amends and now Burke works with Jay at Roc Nation. Dash has been making the internet and social media rounds for years speaking on Jay any chance he can get.
What Does Jay Z Owe Dame Dash At This Point?
Let’s say there is a friendship there that should be mended. We can look at Camron and Mase and see that there is a possibility of a reconciliation but Jay and Dame were never friends like Cam and Mase were growing up. Their relationship was always business first. It just happened to blossom into a friendship. Well, at least that’s what we think. So they went from business partners to friends, and back to business partners in the end. Yeah, that makes sense. Not everyone is equipped or supposed to go along for every journey in your life.
The reason this story gets under so many people’s skin is that Dame just won’t stop. There is no way in hell that after seeing his true remarks I would sit down with him.
“Where I’m at now is that if Roc-A-Fella and the ones that weren’t billionaires want to get money on the right terms, I’m down. I’m telling you publicly I will [have the conversation]. And I’ve never not said that.
He’s not thinking about mending that bond, Dame wants that money. Jay is a billionaire and in Dame’s eyes, that should be his position. Remember, he was the business-minded one. He was the manager. He was the voice of the Roc. But along the way, Jay Z grew into something that no one saw coming. And that’s when Dame really got in his feelings. Now, we can all see that Jay has some cutthroat in him. Maybe he did Dame dirty and maybe Dame did him dirty. In that case, like football, the penalties offset each other.
But it brings us back to the original question. What does Jay get out of this meeting? He has the money and power. Dame is still searching for it. We can travel down their history but it’s well documented. For me, there is no way I can sit down with anyone who has been doing nothing but attacking me in the media for years. I don’t care what type of history we have. It’s not happening. As a billionaire with those types of connections, why would I bring a loud-mouth, attention-hungry person into my inner circle again? Dame is smart but he played his cards wrong.
“I always said as a man that we could always talk it up. Men should always be able to talk things up, but I’m really happy with my life right now. I know the world would love to see it and I’m down for it. If we could create something that inspires me, period. I don’t want to be f**king running on the stage dancing around. I’m too chubby for that right now.
Even during the latest interview, he couldn’t refrain from throwing shots. “But JAY’s never had that accountability to have that real conversation with me.” What was the point of the last part? You are reaching out but then still taking digs. Naw bro, Jay will keep ignoring you as he has for the last 2 decades. And If Jay did you so dirty, why would you want to get back in business with him, again?
