UFC Vegas 18: Overeem vs. Volkov will take place at the UFC APEX facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight veteran Alistair Overeem will make his return to the Octagon for a five-round showdown opposite No. 6-ranked contender Alexander Volkov in the UFC Vegas 18 main event, taking place on Saturday, February 6th inside the APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Overeem (47-18, 1 NC), who turns 41 in May, insists he’s retiring after “one last run” at the heavyweight title, which translates into “one more loss” because that’s all it takes to send the hot-and-cold “Demolition Man” to the back of the line.
This should be an intriguing battle between a pair of heavyweight contenders with both power and skill.
UFC odds opened with Overeem installed as a slim favorite but he is now the underdog to Volkov.
Volkov’s (32-8) goal is to snap the Dutchman’s two-fight winning streak and replace him in the Top 5 of the division.
“Drago” was last seen beating the brakes off Walt Harris at the UFC 254 pay-per-view (PPV) event last October in Abu Dhabi.
Gambling Odds for Fight Night’s Main Event:
Overeem and Volkov aren’t the only big names on this packed Fight Night card, with No. 2-ranked bantamweight Cory Sandhagen facing off against UFC legend Frankie Edgar.
Other intriguing bouts expected to take place on February 6 include Cody Stamann vs. Andre Ewell, Clay Guida vs. Michael Johnson, and Beneil Dariush vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira. In addition, Manel Kape will make his UFC debut against No. 5 flyweight contender Alexandre Pantoja.
