The NBA coaching change in Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors has seen two of the last four guys to have won an NBA title now dismissed. Mike Budenholzer joins Nick Nurse as a dismissed head coach. There’s no way in my mind will Mike Budenholzer get hired by the Toronto Raptors.
Mike Budenholzer
Yes, my sympathies lie with Mike Budenholzer’s family as he lost his job and his brother to a car accident during the playoff run. Certainly, he has been a fine NBA head coach in the regular season but his playoff failures are just too much for me to like as being hired. His failures are just too obvious and they really show the success of Giannis and Khris in overcoming their coaching failures to win the 2021 NBA Finals. Charles Lee an assistant coach with the Bucks has also just been interviewed by the Toronto Raptors as well for the head coaching job.
Becky Hammond
While succeeding in the WNBA with the Las Vegas Aces, Hammond has suddenly emerged as the leading candidate to replace Nick Nurse. I would be all in on this hire as the person who should lead an NBA franchise if the Toronto Raptors decide to make changes to the roster and she would be so welcomed in Toronto who are also attempting to get a new WNBA team as well. Hammond has experience working with the San Antonio Spurs as is well known and has won the WNBA title in her first season with the Las Vegas Aces. The betting odds sure have her rated as the highest candidate at this moment. Masai Ujuri would make this work. Despite Hammond’s comments about the Toronto Raptors job, she is focused of course on making the Aces repeat champions currently.
The Rest of the Candidates
Adrain Griffin was kept on and had a new contract to stay as the assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors. That’s not unusual however when you make the change usually there is no one else kept around the team. Griffin was the lead assistant for Nick Nurse and is much loved by the Toronto Raptors players as well. Kenny Atkinson (Warriors) is another leading candidate to be the next head coach for the Toronto Raptors. As mentioned earlier Charles Lee has also been interviewed by the Raptors. The rest of these candidates will be researched and interviewed and eventually one will become the next head coach of the Toronto Raptors.
Chosen Before the NBA Draft
The Toronto Raptors will have their next head coach before the NBA Draft on June 22nd. The next head coach may or may not have Pascal Siakam, OG Anonuby, Fred Van Vleet, or Gary Trent Jr when they take over the job for WE THE NORTH fans. Whoever gets this job will have a lot of work ahead of them in order to get this franchise back to the mixture of a roster that can compete in the Eastern Conference of the NBA.
