Last year was almost magical for the Toronto Blue Jays, until they lost Game Seven in the World Series. Yes, it was a painful experience, but the Toronto Blue Jays can repeat as the American League East Division champions.
Key Losses
Bo Bichette- Shortstop
Chris Bassitt- Starting Pitcher
Key Additions
Kazumo Okamoto
Dylan Cease
Jesus Sanchez
Losing Bo Bichette might mean a big bat is gone; his defensive numbers were never great, and the World Series Champions were not able to sign Kazumo Okamoto from the Japanese league. We shall see how Okamoto does in his first big league season.

The pitching staff also saw a big signing when they signed Dylan Cease, who was pitching magnificently for the San Diego Padres. He had 215 strikeouts in 168 innings pitched. His addition after losing Chris Bassitt should be an improvement if he can pitch closer to two hundred innings.
Trey Yesavage
The youngest pitcher ever in World Series history is on the injured list to start the season. It’s relatively minor, but when he does return, every batter will be out to get this young man off the mound as soon as possible.
Vladamir Guerrero Jr
This man is the king when it comes to the Blue Jays. When the first baseman is on fire, this team becomes much tougher. His bat isn’t as lethal as it once was, but the timely hits to the opposite field (Thank you, Bo Bichette) have greatly improved, and he is a tough out.
Addison Barger
Last season, he was sent down early on, but when he came back to the Major Leagues, his bat was electric and he needs to continue that same style as he played with last year.
George Springer
The old man had a much better season after his horrific start and again was such a key component. If he can find a decent groove in April and May, some fans might be pleased. He still delivers when it matters the most.
THE AL EAST
I don’t see the Yankees’ pitching staff as a great bunch yet again. The Orioles, Rays, and Red Sox don’t impress me much either. So this is a great opportunity for the Blue Jays to repeat as the division champions.
For me, until the other teams in the division show me anything different, this Blue Jays team should win the American League East title.
Baseball fans across Canada are definitely some of the best in the game, and they want another run, especially against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
As the advertising says, OKAY BLUE JAYS LET’S PLAY BALL!!!
