There are several players in the NBA who should be on this list but they just can’t seem to stay healthy. Kawhi Leonard has stolen money from the Clippers for the past 3 years. He has only played in 5 games this season. Anthony Davis has played well so far. He is averaging 26 points and 12 rebounds per game. But can LeBron James and the Lakers rely on him to play 72 or more games? Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram get my honorable mention. The duo is averaging 43 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists per game.
Top 5 NBA Dynamic Duos:
5) Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis (Washington Wizards):
The Wizards have played much better than expected. They are now the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference. A huge part of the success has rested on the shoulders of Beal and Porzingis. The two are averaging 49.9 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. Porzingis has found a home in Washington. Kyle Kuzma has proven he can be a legitimate number 3 option. If this team stays healthy and add some pieces at the trading deadline, they could make the playoffs.
Who Has The Best Backcourt In The NBA?
4) Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant (Portland Trail Blazers):
The Trail Blazers were rumored to be tanking. No one told head coach Chauncey Billups and the rest of the Portland roster. Is there a better big 3 in the Western Conference than Damian Lillard, Simons, and Grant? The team is bringing Lillard along slowly, he has only played in 11 games but the rest of the players have stepped up. Simons has a legitimate No. 2 option. He is scoring 23.9 points per contest and leads the team, averaging 4.3 assists per game. Grant is perfect stretch four. He is shooting 47.9 from 3-point range and scoring 22 points a night. If the Trail Blazers stay healthy they could be a top 4 seed in the West.
3) Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers):
Mitchell has been the best acquisition in the NBA this season. He is playing like an MVP and is averaging 29 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. Garland has developed into a reliable offensive weapon. He is shooting 40% from 3-point range and scoring 22 points per contest. The Cavaliers are a young team on the rise.
2) Trae Young and Dejounte Murray (Atlanta Hawks):
Atlanta’s offense is straight out of the 1980s. Nate McMillian has no idea how to create an easy shot for his team. Everything they run is one on one or a high pick-and-roll. There are no screens away from the ball and no movement on the weak side. Young and Murray have been the best backcourt in the league, despite McMillian’s incompetence. They are averaging 48 points, 16 assists, 9 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. If they ever get an offensive-minded coach this dynamic duo could put up legendary backcourt numbers.
1) Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics):
The Celtics made it to the NBA Finals last season and they have not missed a beat. They are 17-4 and look like they are getting better every game. Tatum is my early season, clear-cut winner for the MVP. He is averaging 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. He is also becoming a very good two-way player. Brown is the perfect Robin to Tatum’s Batman. He is averaging 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. Both are shooting over 48% from the field. These two are efficient, explosive, and have a killer instinct that you don’t normally see in young players.
