Not only do the Patriots play the Eagles Sunday but Brady is back. Tom Brady won who was more important debate between him and Belichick. It’s pretty obvious it was Brady who took the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl and Belichick has yet to win a playoff game.
I like many grew up with Tom Brady watching him dominate game after game. He is the only one to make everyone around him better cause he has the winning attitude.
One of my favorite Super Bowls was Super Bowl XXXVI that really started his legacy and the buy in. Then you win in 2003 and 2004 which was built on great defenses but Brady’s championship style was contagious through the whole team.
The undefeated season of 2007 ended in failure losing to the Giants. The Randy Moss years were amazing even though they didn’t win. Losing to the Giants again in 2011 was a failure too. But they got Gronkowski and Edelman. Also, Hernandez but unfortunately sad ending for him in New England.
The drafting of Jimmy Garoppolo motivated Brady to win after Belichick brought up his age and contract situation. The Patriots signed Revis that year in 2014 helped them win the Super Bowl that year. Brady’s drive in the fourth quarter was killer and amazing. Obviously, the Malcolm Butler interception to nail it is the story. But that was the one that tied Joe Montana for most of all time.
The 28-3 Super Bowl with the Falcons is the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history. Brady solely was the reason they came all the way back to win in overtime. Julian Edelman made the great catch in the fourth quarter that nobody will ever forget. That win cemented Brady as the greatest quarterback of all time.
After the 2017 Super Bowl loss to the Eagles Brady felt mistreated by Belichick and ownership. He had a meeting with Kraft and Gesile which she said “why does he (Belichick) treat him like Johnny Fucking Foxborough.” The guy won five Super Bowls and suspended, and they treated him like shit.
Brady and Belichick put aside differences and won the Super Bowl in 2018. Brady’s last Super Bowl with the Patriots. The 2019 season was shut down by a loss from the Titans in the wildcard playoff game. After that game and before the season it was clear Brady was done in foxborough.
Brady wanted the 2 years $25 million contract that Drew Brees got but Belichick wouldn’t do it. He goes to Tampa and wins the Super Bowl while the Patriots went 7-9 with Cam Newton. Since then, Power has gotten taken away from Belichick between the draft and most recently offensive coordinator.
I think Kraft regrets getting rid of Brady and Belichick getting his way. They could’ve had a seventh Super Bowl out of it but nope Belichick was stubborn.
Belichick since has admitted that he wouldn’t have won all those Super Bowls without Brady. But when he was on the team Belichick thought it was all him.
This Sunday should be fun and they’ll be more celebrations of Brady with the Patriots. The statue retiring the number 12 and red jacket. Maybe even a street in Foxborough near the stadium named after him.
It’s crazy how much of an impact Brady made on football on and off the field. He had such a winning drive that nobody will ever have again. My friend said “it’s cool how I was born when he was drafted then he retired when my daughter was born.”
That is really true cause all those kids that were born in 2000 Brady is pretty much all they know. It’s all I’ve seen too I was nine when he got drafted.
