There is no quarterback competition between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. It doesn’t exist if Zappe were the starter then just keep Matt Patricia and Joe Judge in their offensive roles like last year. Why change it up if Mac sucks and isn’t going to be the starter? Just throw in the towel start Zappe and tank for the next quarterback to draft. That is how ridiculous the argument is from Bill Belichick to Felger and Mazz. From the practices I’ve seen and saw today Jones works with O’Brien and the starters while Zappe and McSorely work with the backups.
Robert Kraft wants Jones to be the starting quarterback which is why Bill O’Brien is here. Not to develop an 4th round pick who was yes sir last year. Mac Jones went 8-for -10 in 11V11 and had a nice completion to DeVante Parker and found Hunter Henry in the endzone. Jones went 10 for 14 today Zappe was 8 for 13 today. Mac Jones had a good day in the redzone Zappe went 0-2 with a sack but there’s a quarterback competition because Belichick said so the one who put a defensive and special teams coach to run the offense last year.

Don’t listen To Belichick When He Talks Quarterbacks
Do you know that Joe Judge is the loudest coach on the field? The guy is like cringe loud. No wonder the offensive players thought he was a joke last year. Bill O’Brien brings command and structure to the offense. Mac Jones last three days of training camp he’s 25/34 with a 73% completion percentage but there’s a quarterback competition.
Robert Kraft made it clear during the owner’s meetings that Bill O’Brien was brought here to get Mac back on track. Not help with the nonsense from last season and those dumb chants.

If you look at that quote he clearly takes a shot at Belichick which he obviously didn’t like. So again instead of Bill taking ownership he says there’s a quarterback competition because Zappe took the coaching of Patricia and Judge better than Jones did. O’Brien wasn’t his call so therefor I’m not going to call Mac the starting quarterback I’m just going to say he and Zappe will compete when pads come on. That is how Belichick thinks you play his way then he will throw you roses, if you try to question his way he will hold grudges while telling the media this is a new season.
Then you have talking heads on the radio, Felger and Mazz eating up what Belichick said about both quarterbacks competing for the starting job. When Bill kicks Brady out the door they are on team Brady but when Belichick ruins Mac Jones in his second season by hiring bad coaches it’s team Belichick. It’s unbelievable and makes no sense.
Of course, Zappe didn’t speak up about the offense last year it was his rookie season. Jones new how functional it was the year before with McDaniel’s and saw from the jump they were in trouble in 2022. So he spoke up about instead of cowering and just giving up. Belichick didn’t like and will forever hold it against him. My words to Bill radio talking heads and Felger, Mazz get over it.
