Hey, baseball fans we are a month into the season, and where do we start with all the things that have happened so far? Lucky for you and me I only had to pick 3 things to talk about even though I could have gone a million different ways with topics to touch on.
Where have all the closers gone?
Teams have shelled out big money for guys who can come in for 1-2 innings and close the door on games. A month into this season and some of those elite closers are off to rough starts. Devin Williams had Yankee fans thinking he would bring back some of the magic of Yankee closers of the past NOT named Marino Rivera. Well so far not even close as has been removed as the closer. He is not alone as we can look at Jordan Romano who’s let games get away from him by according to his manager was tipping pitches. Emmanuel Clase of the Cleveland Guardians also needs to right the ship. Getting these guys right asap is important to these teams to keep wins and not turn into late-inning losses.
Can The Judge Keep It Up?
Not often do we hear the name of a player considered by many to be a classic slugger showcase he is an all-around hitter. Aaron Judge is toying with .400 spraying the baseball all around the field making it even tougher to get the Yankees star off the base pads. Can he keep this up? TIme will tell but who doesn’t like a record being chased throughout the season
Another player who is having a good start is the man who was the face of his franchise and that’s Franciso Lindor who smacking the leather off the ball for a hot Mets team. By the way, Juan Soto is still figuring things out at the plate that should make other pitchers afraid.
Talk About It:
The Chicago Cubs are looking GOOD. Is it playoffs good? Today a month into the season I say YES. No one really talks about them but the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants are just plugging away stacking up wins don’t sleep too much on those two squads. Will the Baltimore Orioles figure it out in month two? Are we ready to say Fernando Tatis is back as a superstar in this game? I will catch you all next week, for another weekly word on baseball. Want to talk ball follow me on X @JoeCardoso301 or hit me up in the comments.
