The San Francisco 49ers should trade for Mac Jones especially if they lose the Super Bowl. The 49ers wanted Mac in the 2021 NFL Draft but went with Trey Lance instead. Brock Purdy a product of what’s around him would be playing like Mac Jones if he was on the Patriots. Since Belichick destroyed Mac in New England he deserves a fresh start somewhere else. Why not go to a place that wanted him in the first place with an offensive minded head coach.
The 49ers have an all star team with legitimate talent on offense. They have also have a great offensive line that gives Purdy all day to throw which the Patriots never did. Bill Belichick undermined offense in 2022 and 2023. You even had Kendrick Bourne say this past week putting Patricia and Judge to run the offense was crazy.
Kraft thought bringing in O’Brien would help but Belichick undermined it and signed washed up JuJu Smith-Schuster and got rid of Jakobi Meyers. Part of the reason Bill Belichick got fired was because of how he treated Mac Jones. Notice how he has no job?
The 49ers Are perfect For Mac Jones
A fresh start is needed for Mac and the Patriots. If Mac stays here and throws an interception baby Patriot fans will be chanting for the rookie. It’s best for both Mac and the Patriots to move on so Mac can get a fresh start somewhere new like the 49ers. Then he can prove the spoiled Patriot fans, Bill Belichick, and Michael Lombardi wrong.
The Kyle Shannhan offense is for Mac and having someone teach it the right way not some defensive coach learning on the fly with a second year quarterback. The bridge is burned between the Patriots and Mac Jones mainly caused by Belichick and the spoiled fans who think every new quarterback will be Brady. That will never again be the case. The only other quarterback who can lift average talent around him up is Patrick Mahomes.
Ian Rappaport reported on Sunday Mac will be traded in the coming weeks from the Patriots.
Even though Bill Belichick is gone, former first-round pick Mac Jones — who lost the starting role and ended up third string by the end of the 2023 season — is a trade candidate in the coming weeks and most likely will end up elsewhere for the 2024 season.
Will Mac get traded to the 49ers? I hope so but if not I hope it’s to a team that thinks about offense and can rebuild what Bill Belichick broke in 2022 and 2023.
