The Red Sox Have An Impressive Start
The Boston Red Sox are a much better team than they were last April. Alex Cora is the big difference maker for them, the Red Sox want to play for the manager this year and that’s huge. The Red Sox went 21-7 in the month of April which is the best record in baseball. The Red Sox also have six grand slams which are the most they had all of last season. Mookie Betts has been on fire swinging early in the count.
The Red Sox lost the opener on March 29th against the Tampa Bay Rays but after that, they went on a nine-game winning streak. They also took two out of three from the power-hitting New York Yankees. The Red Sox finished the month of April with beating the Kansas City Royals to finish 21-7 for the month. They also finished April 4-2 in their last six games of the month of April.
Alex Cora Is Connecting With The Team
When Alex Cora was brought on as manager of the Red Sox he said “I understand they live baseball 24/7. I come from a country [Puerto Rico] that does that, and with my family, it’s the same. This is a good baseball team, a team that, as you all know, have won back-to-back division titles but at the end of the day, this city, everybody wants to win a world championship. In my family, for breakfast, we talk baseball. For lunch, we talk baseball, and for dinner, too.” For the last two seasons, the Red Sox have won the division but that’s not enough when you get swept or lose in the first round of the playoffs.
Alex Cora brings that young vibe this team needed all of last season. With the addition of J.D. Martinez, we’ll see if they can out power the powerful Yankees. The Yankees are starting to win baseball games as it’s getting warmer out. With it getting warmer out David Price shouldn’t have a problem pitching in the warm weather. The only game they lost to the Yankees was because he had to come out because his fingers were too cold. So here’s to a great April and hopefully a great May.
