The Pressure Mounts: Analyzing Bill Belichick’s Position

The Patriots can’t lose to the Jets on Sunday. If they fall to 0-3 against the Jets without Aaron Rodgers Bill Belichick hot seat could get hotter. The Patriots would not only be 0-3 but 0-4 going up against the Dallas Cowboys. This is why Miami was a must win in week 2 for the Patriots but because Mac has nobody to throw too that is a number one receiver the Patriots once again got off to a slow start. The Patriots offense could probably get off to a slow start and still win on Sunday going up against Zach Wilson and the Jets.

I’ve been saying for awhile since 2020 Bill Belichick has had some power taken away from him. Between the drafts, putting Patricia and Judge in charge of the offense only for it to backfire in 2022. Kraft goes out and hires Bill O’Brien. Instead of the Patriots drafting George Pickens they draft two late in the 6th and 7th rounds. One can’t get his foot down and the other gets benched after fumbling the ball in the first quarter.

Patriots Receiver Demario Douglas Should Play The Whole Game on Sunday

Demario Douglas should be in the whole game on Sunday he’s your fastest receiver on the team. There was no reason to bench him for the whole game against the Dolphins after coughing it up in the first quarter. I’m sure if that was Elliott though Belichick would’ve had him right back out there because he took his contract. Belichick is losing his fastball.

Mac Jones spoke Wednesday about Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner.

Yeah, he’s a great player, obviously had a great rookie year. He’s going to make a lot of progress. He looks great out there, him and D.J. [Reed]. So, tough group to go against. I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen on film, definitely long, athletic guys across the defense. So, powerful up front, linebackers play with a lot of range. C.J. [Mosley]’s amazing. He’s a great player, always has been in this league. Definitely, he’s the bell cow, but you can tell they all have their own unique things they can do. So, definitely one of the – probably the most impressive team I’ve seen on film.

I think Mac finds Douglas a lot on Sunday and don’t expect Smith-Schuster to contribute to much. He can’t even be on the field at the most important part of the game on the final drive to win it. I also think that Zach Wilson is so bad that he will throw a turnover that will probably seal the win for the Patriots if the game is close. I don’t see the Jets beating the Patriots but if they do things will start to get real dark in Foxborough.

Here is Belichick on his thoughts on the Jets.

 It’s Jets week. A team that we’re pretty familiar with here, but still got a few changes, new faces and all. Joe Douglas and Coach [Robert] Saleh have done a good job of building this team from where it was a couple years ago when Robert got there. It’s an explosive team, obviously they’ve got a very explosive returner, a good special teams unit. [Xavier] Gipson’s given us some explosive plays. [Thomas] Morstead is one of the best directional punters in the league. [Justin] Hardee’s a good player. They’ve got a good core group of players. Defensively, they’re aggressive. Certainly, [Sauce] Gardner has been a great addition for them last year. They have a real good front, disruptive front. [Jermaine] Johnson’s playing well.
