What the Patriots tell the media and what they really think are two different things. The team just wants the offseason to get here. It showed in the first half on Saturday in the loss to the Bengals. There was zero fight and wanting to win that game. The whole team has given up on the season regardless of the almost comeback win in the second half. Even if they make the playoffs, they’ll get bounced in the first round. Just play these last two games and then reconstruct the offense in the offseason the right way.
This season falls on Belichick for bringing Patricia downstairs. Kraft should and maybe already has given Belichick the ultimatum to get another offensive coordinator. The NFL Network reported on Saturday that the Patriots were going to bring in Bill O’Brien to be the offensive coordinator for next season. Anybody is better than what they have out there now. Mac Jones will be better with better coaching we saw glimpses of that last season. This was supposed to be a progression instead it was a regression.
Patriots Teammates Have Mac Jones’ Back
The chants for Zappe from the crowd don’t realize what he did in the second half of the Bears game. Also, people don’t understand that everyone on that offense and locker room has Mac’s back. Bill will lose the locker room if he put Zappe in the game at any point. The reason Zach Wilson is being benched for the Jets is because all of his receivers and teammates don’t like him. We know that Zappe won’t be any better again we have proof of the Bears game in the second half. Mac is the quarterback for the future whether people like it or not.
Remember Robert Kraft picked Mac. I think he convinced Bill to take him because of the season they had prior, and Brady just won the Super Bowl with Tampa. Here is Jakobi Meyers after the game.
That doesn’t sound like a guy who hates his quarterback and thinks it would be better with someone else. Even Kendrick Bourne was calling out the play calling and scheme after the Bills game. Now, this past Saturday he came out of the doghouse and played a great game. Not sure why they didn’t use him in the beginning of the season and just Malcolm Butlered him. Now they use him when they really aren’t playing for anything other than pride.
The players want to win at the end of the day. They were never in the position to do so on the offensive side of the ball. From day one of the spring workouts to now it’s been a complete mess on that side. In order to win sorry to sound like a broken record but they need to fix it and fast. Year three is a critical year for Mac Jones and you’d like him to take a big leap forward instead of backward.
