I don’t get it. When I saw the Miami Dolphins traded for wide receiver Chase Claypool I lost it. Are you kidding me, Bill Belichick?! The Miami Dolphins who already have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle want to add another receiver to help their young quarterback Tua. What do the Patriots do? Their starting cornerback is out so let’s go get J.C. Jackson from the Chargers to help out the defense and Belichick’s kids who coach that side of the ball. Meanwhile, Mac Jones has to continue to throw the ball to bad knees JuJu-Smith Schuster, a number three Kendrick Bourne, and a small 7th-round pick Demario Douglas who still needs to develop into something. Hunter Henry and Mike Giescki aren’t going to cut it. But instead spend the money on defense and useless special teams players.
The Patriots Don’t Realize It’s A Quarterback League
The quarterback for the Chicago Bears Justin Fields was pretty bad the last few years until Thursday night’s game against the Commanders. DJ Moore the 24 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft was drafted by the Carolina Panthers. The Bears to help develop their young quarterback traded their first overall pick this past offseason to Carolina for Moore. Justin Fields has a perfect quarterback rating when throwing to Moore. The Patriots with the 23rd overall pick drafted Isaiah Wynn in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was a complete bust as well as N’Keal Harry drafted in 2019.
The Patriots Don’t Value Offense
The Patriots have always let key wide receivers go in the draft to other teams while focusing on defense and special teams. It really is frustrating this isn’t 2003 Bill you can’t win on defense anymore the league has changed and now is a quarterback league. You have to draft and develop your quarterback and put pieces around him. They aren’t going to be Brady and hide your mistakes on offense and lift the receivers and tight ends.
Instead of drafting N’Keal Harry, they could’ve had DK Metcalf. The Patriots also had the chance to draft George Pickens in the 2023 NFL draft but instead, they drafted a cornerback when they drafted one last year! The Patriots didn’t draft offense until very late in the draft when they were already loaded on defense. They even wasted a pick on a kicker and punter. Who does that? Bill Belichick does.
Which is why Mac Jones will never work out under Bill Belichick. It doesn’t matter that they have Bill O’Brien when the playmakers can’t run his offense. It also doesn’t matter when you don’t have an offensive line that can block. Did you know the last big signing on offense they drafted besides Mac Jones who was a Kraft pick was probably Rob Gronkowski? That was 13 years ago! Since then it’s been defense and special teams. Then getting the clearance at Marshalls for washed-up players like JuJu Smith-Schuster
The game of football has passed Bill Belichick by. This is a passing league with building around the quarterback. The Patriots as long as Bill Belichick is the head coach are better off drafting some 4th round no-name that won’t amount to anything and just being mediocre while he breaks the useless wins record being a .500 football team. Mac Jones needs to be on a team where the head coach will build around him so he can succeed and the Patriots aren’t it.
