If you’re a fan of the movie then this is good news. The Notebook will hit the stage in New York City in the Spring of 2024. Having already played in Chicago, NYC will get its taste of the hit show soon. Will have the same effect that the movie did.
Released in 2004, The Notebook is regarded as one of the best, if not the best romantic movies ever made. Adapted from the book, written by Nicolas Spark, the movie has gone on to gross over $117M with a budget of just $29M. Over the years, its popularity has just grown into almost a cult following.
The movie catapulted the Hollywood carers of its two main stars in Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Where would they be without The Notebook?
Details of the show are set. The Notebook: The Musical will debut on March 14, while previews of the show will begin at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on February 6, 2024. Are you excited yet? The new musical features music and lyrics by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, with a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter.
The Notebook will be directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Rent) and Schele Williams (Aida, Motown the Musical), and choreographed by Katie Spelman. The production will feature scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and hair and wig design by Mia Neal. The production’s music supervisor will be Carmel Dean, who also collaborated on arrangements with Ingrid Michaelson and on orchestrations with John Clancy. Geoffrey Ko will serve as music director. Casting is by The Telsey Office, Patrick Goodwin, CSA.
How To Get Tickets To The Notebook: The Musical
This big question is, who will star in it? Casting for the NYC Broadway Show has not been made public yet but you best believe, they will come out in droves for this one. As big as The Lion King, Alladin, and Harry Potter are, The Notebook has the potential to be just as huge in NYC. Whoever takes over those two starting roles, will be treated as a King and Queen in this city.
What drove The Notebook to such prestige was the story. While the acting was great, it was the love story of Noah and Allie that set it apart from the other romantic movies either before or after the film. There is no doubt that the cast will put in the same hard work and dedication to the Broadway show that was brought to the big screen. Now, we get to hear the love between Allie and Noah in songs. That’s what makes this such exciting news and a must-see for 2024.
