Let me just put this out there IDGAF if Mac Jones and Bill Belichick don’t have a close relationship. If I was Mac I would be pissed too at Belichick for putting me in an unwinnable position last year. Making a defensive coach the offensive coordinator and a special teams coach be my quarterback’s coach. I also don’t care that Jones reached out for help outside the organization last season. Whatever that was last year wasn’t working and Jones knew it wasn’t helping him or the team. So he went and asked Nick Saban and probably O’Brien for help at Alabama. Note to Bill and Patriots fans/Felger and Mazz show get over it.

Tom E Curran from NBC Sports Boston even said it doesn’t matter Belichick’s and Mac’s relationship. It also doesn’t matter that they didn’t have a heart-to-heart about what happened last season. Curran said Brady and Belichick didn’t have a good relationship for the last nine years he was a Patriot. Then Felger and Mazz said the only difference is it worked with Brady because you won, and he pulled games out of his ass. It didn’t matter that Brady didn’t get along with Belichick.
Bill Belichick needs to realize Mac Is A Good Quarterback With Good Coaching
Mac Jones isn’t or will ever be Tom Brady. However, he’s a good quarterback who had a promising rookie season with an upside. His head coach failed him in 2022 so much fans were chanting for the backup on National TV. Belichick humiliated Jones to the point where the 2022 season doesn’t even count for him in my opinion. The point Curran was trying to make was the last time Belichick had a good quarterback around New England he and Belichick were at odds. The same can be said for Mac and Belichick. Just because they may not see eye to eye doesn’t mean that it won’t work. Will they win six Super Bowls? Of course not, but they could win enough games to make the playoffs and maybe a playoff game.
Mac Jones Will Make A Statement On The Field For Bill Belichick
Mac is more motivated than ever at the moment. With Bill O’Brien here he is more energized and focused. He can research the Brady years and learn from him as to how to handle Belichick. Maybe Mac reaches out to Brady and asks for advice for how to deal with Belichick in private and with the media. As long as the Patriots win games, and they should the Bill V Mac drama shouldn’t matter.
The two quarterbacks Belichick liked were Jimmy Garoppolo and Cam Newton. Garoppolo is injury prone and we all know what happened there. Now, the guy can’t even pass a physical and may not even make the Raiders. Cam Newton played Ball with Belichick took his contract and went 7-9 in the COVID year. First year with Mac with Josh McDaniels the Patriots finish 10-7 before getting their doors blown off in the Wild-Card game in Buffalo. That wasn’t Mac’s fault the entire defense quit.
When Mac said he has to earn the trust back in everyone in this building it’s a motivational tactic. He wants to prove to his head coach I’m not the quarterback I was last year with Bubbles Patricia and Hardo Judge. With real coaching and structure, I can be quarterback in the league that can help win games.
Felger and Mazz don’t want to talk about how the offense is miles ahead of where they were a year ago this time. A year ago, you didn’t even know who the offensive play caller was. They want to talk about the Belichick V Mac drama and use the “well he’s not Brady ” card. No shit he never will be, but he’s a good quarterback who can get you 10-11 wins so it shouldn’t matter Bill and Mac’s relationship status.
