Don’t expect the Red Sox to do anything this off-season. All they’ve done is sign Alex Cora and that’s it. No big-name player wants to come to Boston. The Sox are a mess with no direction. They have no pitching and have a complete identity problem especially with their fans. The Red Sox will maybe do some minor deals but nothing major this off-season. Players are also mad that the Sox dumped Mookie Betts and didn’t offer him an extension. Players don’t like how the Sox organization treats its players. As for now, the Yankees are in complete control of the AL East while the Sox continue to find their identity and rebuild for the future.
Say Goodbye To Jackie Bradley Jr.
The Red Sox want Jackie Bradley Jr. However, it looks like he could go to the Houston Astros and he’d be better off. The Sox don’t look like they will win a championship for a long time. The Astros could still make a run even after the cheating scandal of 2017. The Red Sox have J.D. Martinez and that is it who was awful last year. The Sox have no bullpen or a bunch of no-names that don’t belong in the Majors. They won’t have Chris Sale to begin the year after having Tommy John Surgery. Nathan Eovaldi isn’t even close worth the contract he got after the World Series. Bloom has a lot of work to do with not a lot to work with because nobody wants to play for the Red Sox.
Nobody Wants To Play In Boston
The Sox are currently last in Boston as the most popular sport. I would say even behind the New England Revolution. The Pandemic didn’t help last season with no fans but the team stunk. At least the Bruins, and Celtics made a run last summer. I don’t think anyone watched a complete Red Sox game for four hours last summer. They had so many no-names playing it was such a waste of a season. They brought Cora back to get some of their identity back. The team will struggle but the ratings will be a little higher than last year. It was like the team quit until Cora’s suspension was over so they could regroup and come back in 2021.
We’ll see most of the same team in 2021 that we saw in 2020. Build up the minor league system that Dombrowski destroyed and be a contender in the next two or three years. With nobody wanting to come to Boston anyway then it’s a perfect time to build up the farm system. The Sox have the Manager everyone likes now bring back NESN on YouTube and we’ll be all set.
Maybe someday big-name players will want to come to Boston when the Sox have a clear direction. But right now they are all over the place trying to construct a rebuild for years to come. Cora back helps and maybe the development of the minor league system will get some players known. As of now sit back and watch the Yankees stack up and the Sox do nothing
