We are 4 weeks into the NFL season. I would be shocked if at least 3 of these coaches aren’t fired before the season ends.
Here are the 5 worst coaches in the NFL:
5B) Nathaniel Hackett (Broncos):
Hackett has been an offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Green Bay Packers. The Broncos offense has been a disaster in Denver. In 4 weeks, he has turned Russell Wilson into Baker Mayfield. The play calling has been atrocious and the time management has been sophomoric at best. Denver is ranked 30th in the NFK, scoring 16 points per contest. Luckily, their defense has played great. They are ranked 5th in points per game.
5A) Dan Campbell (Lions):
I do not think Campbell will be fired, but the praise this man has received, for doing nothing on the sidelines is mind-boggling. In 2015, he compiled a record of 5-7 with the Miami Dolphins. In two years with Detroit, he is 4-16. The Lions are last in defense, giving up 455 yards per game and 35.3 points per contest. I don’t care that his players supposedly love playing for him. I call Detroit the Crying Campbell’s because he is way too emotional before and after each game.
4) Frank Reich (Colts):
2 weeks ago, against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts were shutout,24-0. Jonathan Taylor had 9 carries in the loss. Taylor should have 9 touches per quarter, not in the entire game. Their rushing offense is ranked 27th in the league and they are last in points, averaging 14.3 through the first 4 weeks of the season. This is a team that has no identity on offense. If the Colts continue to struggle, Reich will not make it through the entire season.
3) Josh McDaniels (Raiders):
Before beating the Denver Broncos on Sunday, McDaniels was 1-10 in his last 11 games as a head coach. The Raiders started the season off with 3 straight losses after making the playoffs last year. This team is too talented to not win 9 or 10 games.
2) Kliff Kingsbury (Cardinals):
I don’t understand how Kingsbury ever got hired in the NFL. He was 19-35 in conference play at Texas Tech. Arizona’s ended the 2021 season with a 4-7 finish after starting 7-0. Dating back to his first year as head coach of Texas Tech, Kingsbury is now 17-45 from Game 8 of a season onward. He collapses the 2nd half of the year, all the time.
1) Matt Rhule (Panthers):
Rhule signed seven-year, $60 million contract with the Panthers in January 2020, leaving behind the college ranks to try and build an NFL program. It has been an unmitigated disaster since he arrived in Carolina. He has a record of 5-11, 5-12 and they are now 1-3. His offense has been atrocious. He can’t seem to figure out how to use Christian McCaffrey or Robbie Anderson. I would be shocked if the Panthers win 5 games.
