The No.1 Tennessee Volunteers travel to Atlanta to take on the #3 Georgia Bulldogs.
Date: Saturday, November 5
Game Time: 3:30 ET
Venue: Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA
TV: CBS
Record: Tennessee (8-0), Georgia (8-0)
The Vols remind me a lot on offense of Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers when they won the National Championship in 2019. Hendon Hooker looks like totally different quarterback than when he played at Virginia Tech. He is completing 71% of his passes and has 25 total touchdowns and only 1 interception. Tennessee is No.1 in the country, scoring 49.4 points per game. Part of the reason for their offensive success is their all-world wide receiver, Jalin Hyatt. The junior has 45 receptions, over 900 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns on the season. The Vols are also averaging 4.6 yards per carry. This team has not been great defensively but they have been scoring so many points, they are winning with offense.
For weeks I have been hearing and reading about how Georgia’s offense is struggling. To the national media…
The Bulldogs are 4th in total offense, averaging 537 yards per game. They are 6th in scoring, 41.8 points per game, and are getting a 1st down on 3rd down 52% of the time. This defense is supposed to be in rebuilding mode but they are playing well. They are 6th in the country, giving up 271 yards per game and they are only giving up 10 points per contest.
Prediction:
Something has got to give here. Tennessee wants to pass all over the field, and play up-tempo. Georgia has 28 rushing touchdowns and only 13 receiving touchdowns. If the Vols were home, I would pick them to win. Tennessee is a great team but I am going with the experienced coach in Kirby Smart. Look for Georgia to control the time of possession and run the ball all day on the Tennessee defense.
Georgia 37… Tennessee 33
