It’s official: Ted Lasso will be returning for a fourth season. But in all seriousness, should it? While it was good, it did have its fair share of ups and downs. And if we’re being honest here, Ted Lasso ended the way it should have. So why would Apple+ tamper with such a great and satisfying ending?
That’s the answer most fans are trying to come up with. It’s hard for shows to get a proper send-off as is. But when a show does nail it such as Ted Lasso with its Season 3 finale, there is no need for the creative forces to mess with perfection, right? In no way am I calling the entire show perfect; however, the ending for the main characters could not have been done much better.
Everyone got what they wanted, and here we are two years later, still searching for more. The new storyline will follow Ted back in the UK and coaching the AC Richmond team again, but with a bit of a wrinkle. Instead of males, Ted will be in charge of the Women’s Soccer Team. It seems like good times ahead, but what more can be done to expand this story?
The first go-round was shocking. An American football coach comes to a foreign land to coach a sport he knows nothing about. It was so brilliant. However, by the end of ther series, Ted did begin to pick up pieces of the game which should bode well for his new adventure.
While some new cast members will be in place, will Ted Lasso be without the old crew? Coach Beard, Nate, and Roy finished Season 3 as the new head guys leading the charge for the AC Richmond Men. Rebecca sold 49% of the team, and she and Keeley went into a joint venture in the Women’s Team.
If the remaining guys are leading the men, who will help Ted with the women? Ted and Beard are a great combo, we can’t have one without the other. It just doesn’t work. Well hell, if we’re being honest, we can’t have Ted and Beard without Roy. That’s the trio right there.
Moving on to women can still add to the intrigue. But not with an all-male-led coaching staff. There has to be one or two women there to help Ted navigate it all. As we learned from the original 3 seasons, Ted knows nothing about women. Beard is a pushover and Roy, well, he needs guidance all across the board.
Since its finale, fans have begged for the return of Ted Lasso. This happens with most shows that have a large audience. Viewers never want them to end, but at some point, the credits must roll and we have to say goodbye to a great cast and storytelling.
With its return, could a Season 4 of Ted Lasso take away everything that was built with the original 3 seasons? It wasn’t just the coaches and Rebecca that made the show, it was the team. It was their bond. It took Ted Lasso 3 seasons to build that up and with a new season, it can all come crashing down.
