Have you ever heard of a dope MC by way of San Jose by the name of Snow Tha Product? Born Claudia Feliciano this proud Latina is a beast and wears many hats. I am a child of the golden era of hip-hop when artists like Mos Def, Wu-Tang Clan, and Nas ruled the genre. But I am not one of those old heads who think that anything made after my era is trash and doesn’t deserve a listen. Now my true love will always be boom bap beats and a mean pen game and this artist has all that and then some. Back in 2011 one of my homies sent me a link to a track called “Holy Sh*t” by a rapper with the strangest name I had ever heard of Snow Tha Product. Her punchlines were fire like Lloyd Banks and she spoke super fast but I could keep up enough. And what other female MCs came this hard not named Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, or Bahamadia? Did I mention she was Latino? I had to hear more and find out more about her asap so down the rabbit hole I went, and she provided hella music for fans to enjoy. And I’ve been a super fan ever since.
Coming from San Jose, California, and repping her people to the fullest her catalog is DEEP and has something for everyone in terms of style and sound. Unorthodox dropped independently in 2011 and was followed up with another Mixtape Good Nights & Bad Mornings which gave us another banger “Cookie Cutter Bit*hes” and “Damn It” I saw her pop up here and there on features always holding her own if not outshining these dudes on their records. Anyone who wanted to question her skills should check out “Not For the Weak Minded” by Kxng Crooked you talk about BARS son!
She expanded her reach popping up on the hit USA show Queen of The South where she crushed it. The whole time the touring never stopped as well as the new music she pumped out. All the while before it became what it is today pushing the “Stay Woke” movement and building a huge fan base of women and men that were Latino and black. I am yet to find a feature where she doesn’t just punch a hole through it and then some checkout “Deebo” with her and D Smoke that is HIP-HOP!
Why do I think she is so dope and someone everyone needs to check out? Her flow is fire rapid or slow she rides the track. Being bilingual she can rip it in either language and her pen game is official. She is TOTALLY independent. You can hear all types of influences in her music from Mexican artists to people like Ludacris or Aaliyah. Her hustle is legendary she seems to always be on the road selling out shows and giving the crowd its money’s worth. She has let it be known she has ADHD and uses that as fuel for not just her music but life while raising a son and building her ranch she bought back in 2020, a tip of the cap to her Mexican roots.
Snow is someone I use as a blueprint for how to use social media as well. The team she has does a great job of keeping quality content coming on all platforms. From her YouTube channel to podcasts and IG posts, we see the behind-the-scenes of the life of a growing artist as a person. With a wide-ranging sound, beauty inside and out, and being so down to earth give her a search online and a listen.
Fun fact working in the food industry for 20-plus years when it’s time to go or we are about to have a long day she is heavy in our playlist for myself and my Latino staffers. I can’t wait to hear from everyone what you think about your favorite rappers’ favorite rapper. Stay Up!
