The Seattle Seahawks just might give the San Francisco 49ers a run at the NFC Western division in the 2023 NFL season. Let’s look at what the Seahawks did to get ready for the season. Last season the rookie-laden Seahawks made the postseason by going 9-8.
Seattle Seahawks Offense
The Seattle Seahawks added a major weapon when they drafted wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba from Ohio State University and Smith-Njigba will be a definite addition to the duo of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Quarterback Geno Smith was signed to an extension and they didn’t draft a quarterback as many felt they might in the past draft.
The Seattle Seahawks did add Zach Charbonnet from UCLA to the running back room and combined with Kenneth Walker III the Seahawks should be a dangerous duo out of the backfield. They also drafted another solid pick in Kenny McIntosh from the defending national championship team in Georgia. McIntosh could be an excellent third down back in short-yardage situations especially since so many of those who follow the draft were shocked they were able to draft him with the 237th pick in the seventh round of the draft. Sort of like how the Kansas City Chiefs stole Isiah Pacheco. If he does anything for the Seattle Seahawks it will mean their running back room is very solid.
The offensive line which did a miracle last offseason by having two rookie tackles in Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas help the Seahawks make the playoffs last season should be even better. The Seattle Seahawks are in great shape on their offensive line.
Seattle Seahawks Defense
The Seattle Seahawks defense re-added Bobby Wagner to their 3-4 defense. Wagner will be making it much harder to run against the Seahawks and is a solid leader who of course helped the Seahawks win their lone Super Bowl. Dre’Mont Jones will add a defensive end who can also help out the Seattle Seahawks in bringing pressure onto opposing quarterbacks and is also solid against the run.
In the secondary, the Seattle Seahawks the guy many felt was the best cornerback in the past drat class in Devon Witherspoon. The lightning-quick corner from the Univerity of Illinois should really help the Seahawks improve in an area that was a major weakness for them last season. Adding Witherspoon to play alongside last year’s draft steal in Tariq Woolen should make life difficult for opposing passing games.
Seahawks Outlook
I actually believe the Seattle Seahawks can win 10 to 12 games this season. Their schedule is favorable and if they can find a way to slow down the San Francisco 49ers they just might steal the division. I have the Seattle Seahawks as a team to watch for the 2023 NFL season. My only concern is with keeping Geno Smith healthy. If he does stay healthy the Seattle Seahawks will be an entertaining team to watch. Smith-Njigba is going open up the passing attack and that should make Seattle a contender for the NFC West division title. Get in in the amazing Seahakws throwback gear from our partners at NFL Shop.
