The Karen Read case has taken a bizarre turn, as rubber ducks, typically used as toys for kids, have become the center of controversy. Supporters of the Free Karen Read movement have placed rubber ducks with messages like “FKR” or “Colin did it” throughout the area. Colin is the nephew of Brian Albert, who owned the house where Boston Police Officer John O’Keeffe was found on his front lawn.
Karen Read Case Takes A Wild Turn
In another incident, a woman put a rubber duck with “FKR” written on it as a joke on a bench outside a pizza restaurant in Canton. This prompted Chris Albert, the restaurant’s owner, to call the State Police, alleging witness intimidation.
Karen Read Case: Toy Ducks Are a Problem
The woman, who meant no harm, is now facing charges of witness intimidation. This has sparked a debate about whether writing on a rubber duck and placing it around town constitutes witness intimidation or littering. Some are questioning if it would be considered witness intimidation if the rubber ducks were inscribed with “Karen Read is Guilty” instead. Below is a rundown from the state police and the woman facing charges about words written on a duck
Young mother: “Charge me with littering…. I don’t know what else to tell you.”
The Rubber Duck Story Is Petty
Do you see how petty it is to question someone about a toy duck just because people are intrigued about the case? This case is like having a different political opinion; it’s crazy. All this fuss over some dumb toy duck. It’s like putting “MAGA” on a toy duck and leaving it on the street, or like I said, writing “Go Pats.” Should people be charged with witness intimidation for that? Probably not.
The situation has received significant attention, with many arguing that writing on a rubber duck, regardless of the message, should not be considered harmful or intimidating.
Last week, a woman was caught on surveillance outside D+E Pizza writing the words “FKR” on the passenger side window of a car. Employees of the pizza shop can be heard calling her a “disgusting bitch.” Rumors are that it was Chris Albert. Again, a woman is just writing letters on her car. What if she wrote “Karen Read is Guilty” instead? Would the reaction from the pizza shop be different?
There’s surveillance video of a woman writing three words on a passenger side window, but there’s no doorbell camera footage of Karen Read hitting John O’Keeffe. If Karen Read is guilty, where’s the doorbell camera footage? Do people realize that not having it makes people question the integrity of the investigation and become passionate about it?
