Robert Kraft has to be pissed. When the Patriots drafted Aaron Hernandez in 2010 that was a Bill Belichick pickup. Then the unfortunate turn of events that turned tragic forced the Patriots to release him because he was on trial for murder. But at that time Brady covered up a lot of players that Belichick drafted that were questionable. Why? Because they were winning Super Bowls and going to championship games. Now, with the Jack Jones situation, another Belichick pickup has to have Robert Kraft going WTF. Now there is no more Super Bowls and Championship games it’s making offensive coaches defensive coaches, ruining your second-year quarterback, and when Jack Jones got arrested in college for robbery look past it.
Robert Kraft Needs To Make Sure Bill Belichick is More Collaborative
Bill Belichick probably thought because of the checkered past of Jack Jones that he would be cheaper having dropped late in the draft. He probably went to Kraft and said let’s take a chance on this kid we can set him straight. Kraft trusted Belichick’s judgment but was once again let down by the head coach who is under .500 since 2020.
As far as Jack Jones is concerned he probably won’t play another down this season for the Patriots or the NFL. There is no way Kraft and the Patriots will keep Jones now, especially after all they went through with Hernandez.
It doesn’t matter what color you are black, white, green, or blue, you don’t bring loaded guns in a suitcase to an airport.it takes two seconds to Google how to properly take unloaded guns through airport security. If the two guns in the suitcase weren’t his or planted there by someone else then he’s hanging with the wrong crowd.
How can Robert Kraft trust Belichick with decisions about questionable players? They don’t have Brady anymore to cover up all the nonsense behind the scenes. Those days are long gone. Does Kraft take away Belichick’s right to have the final say on certain players? The answer is yes. If someone has a questionable past and the head coach is friends with Belichick that particular head coach is going to obviously talk up the questionable player so he gets drafted. Also, when the player meets with Belichick he’s obviously going to make a good impression so he can get a chance to play in the NFL.
How Much Trust Can Robert Kraft Give Bill Belichick?
Look at N’Keal Harry for example. Belichick’s good buddy Michael Lombardi said at the time if you draft DK Metcalf over N’Keal Harry you’re an idiot. What did Bill do? Listened to his buddy and drafted Harry in the first round then Tom Brady to disowned him because Harry couldn’t play.
Kraft took the right to only listen to Belichick when it came to drafting receivers away from Bill and now has been a more collaborative draft than in the past. The same can be said for the questionable past of certain college players.
Kraft trusted Bill to put Matt Patricia and Joe Judge in charge of the offense. Only for that to completely backfire and Kraft had to make sure they got Bill O’Brien this off-season. He even was in charge of drafting Mac Jones in 2021.
The Jack Jones incident is the latest of what can be said of the pre-draft process. Bill Belichick needs to be more collaborative on that too.
When training camp starts in a month the talk won’t be about Mac Jones and Bill O’Brien or the defense or even Christian Gonzalez. It will be about the Jack Jones situation regardless if he’s on the team or not. That must drive Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick crazy.
