Karen Read is set to begin her retrial next Tuesday. The situation appears to be more unfavorable for the Commonwealth than for her. Michael Proctor, the lead investigator, was fired from the State Police due to text messages he sent to colleagues about Karen Read following the incident. Proctor formed a guilty opinion of Karen right from the start, without ever visiting the crime scene. It seems he just wanted to blame her. Meanwhile, the homeowner, who is a Boston police officer, is unlikely to face any consequences.
Independent Journalist’s Double Standards on Covering Cases
Additionally, there seems to be a double standard in the reporting surrounding this case. John DePetro, an independent journalist in Rhode Island, is permitted to report outside of driveways, while Aidan Kearny’s demand for justice is seen as witness intimidation. This disparity is questionable and suggests that DePetro may be envious of Kearny’s larger following regarding the Karen Read case.
Karen Read Faces A Second Trial
Ahead of the retrial, Karen Read’s defense team has filed information on potential third-party culprits: Brian Albert, Brian Higgins, and Colin Albert. This information came from Steve Scanlon, who informed Attorney David Yannetti that John O’Keeffe was killed by those three individuals. Initially, Scanlon didn’t know their names; he simply referred to them as “the homeowner, his nephew, and an ATF agent.” He also indicated that the injuries didn’t align with being struck by a vehicle before the autopsy results being made public.
The Karen Read Defense is more prepared than the Commonwealth
For this retrial, the defense team possesses more information. Reports suggest that Brian Albert, a now-retired Boston police officer, had a history of altercations with fellow officers. Brian Higgins had been flirtatious with Karen Read in the weeks leading up to O’Keeffe’s murder and was reportedly upset when Karen did not respond to his text messages. Colin Albert is a teenager who is protected because his father owns a pizza shop and serves on the Canton Select Board. Curiously, police reports do not mention Colin being present at 34 Fairview Road at all. Why is that?
Not A Single Person Saw John O’Keeffe on the Front lawn after Karen Read left
Not a single person saw John O’Keeffe lying on the small front lawn, which had less snow than it did at 6 a.m., after he left the house an hour following Karen dropping him off. If Karen Read is so guilty, I want to know what happened to the doorbell cameras across the street. It was claimed that those cameras did not capture any video from that night. Proctor did not even request the doorbell camera footage and hastily determined Karen’s guilt without any substantial evidence.

After Proctor was dismissed from the State Police, people began recording cars driving by his house, as a State Trooper was parked outside, just idling there. In stark contrast, there were no police officers or State Troopers stationed outside 34 Fairview Road after a cop was murdered. There’s no excuse for this — shouldn’t Brian Albert have opened his house to allow officers to secure the scene? Yet, there was no police presence that day until the SWAT team began searching for taillights 45 minutes after they arrived, and that delay was due to not receiving the green light from Proctor. If Karen Read is guilty, then why was there a delay in beginning the search for the taillight?
The Commonwealth is trying really hard to shut people up that expose the corruption in this case. But I don’t think that’s going to happen even with Aidan Kearny on the witness list.
