After yet another weekend of Premier League games, the table is still too chaotic to determine who will end up where at the conclusion of the season. Manchester is red, for now, Bale can’t stop scoring, and Liverpool has dropped off the face of the planet. 2020 may go down as the craziest season in the history of the EPL (Premier League).
Manchester United: 2 Manchester City: 0
United put an end to City’s winning streak
Manchester City’s 21-match winning streak has come to an abrupt stop at the hands of Manchester United after the Red Devils defeated City at the Ethiad. United continues their unbeaten Premier League form away from home after picking up the 2-0 on Sunday.
The way the game started was perfect if you were looking at it from United’s standpoint. In the opening two minutes of the match, forward Anthony Martial used some clever footwork at the top of the City box to draw a foul from Gabriel Jesus to award Manchester United a penalty to start off the match. Midfielder Bruno Fernandes would step up and slot the ball past City Goalkeeper Ederson to give United a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, City looked more engaged in the game. They came out firing in the opening minutes after a shot from midfielder Rodri struck the framework. It seemed as though City would find their way back into the game but Manchester United shut the door quickly two minutes later. After sitting deep and defending, United got the opportunity to counter quickly. Defender Luke Shaw dribbled the ball down into the City box. He then played the ball into winger Marcus Rashford, who then played the ball right back to Shaw.
With a quick touch, Shaw stuck the ball with his favored left foot at the top of the box. The ball made its way through the crowded box and crept into the bottom right corner to give United a 2-0 lead. Even with City knocking on the door, it was too much for them to overcome and United would walk away with a 2-0 win to keep their title hopes alive.
After the game City remains first with United in second with the gap shrinking to 11 points.

Liverpool came into the game with an odd lineup and it proved to be their downfall in the long run. The game was wide open to begin, with both teams creating chances to take the lead early on in the match. Liverpool would come close in the 70th minute when a cross by Naby Keïta was met by Sadio Mane who headed the ball off the crossbar.

It was a physical matchup and that was visible throughout the entire game. Chelsea had multiple opportunities in the first half before they finally broke through in the 31st minute. Callum Hudson-Odoi threaded a through ball into the path of Marcos Alonso who whipped a ball across the Everton 6-yard-box that was met by Kai Havertz. Havertz shot would deflect off of Everton defender Ben Godfrey into the back of the net to give the Blues a 1-0 lead.
Chelsea would continue their dominance into the second half with multiple chances. In the 64th minute, Mateo Kovačić would play a ball between the Everton defenders into the run of Havertz. Everton keeper Jordan Pickford would then come out to make himself big against the German. With a quick touch by the keeper, Havertz would draw contact from Pickford and Chelsea would be awarded a penalty kick. Midfielder Jorginho would step and make the keeper go the other way to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead. That would be enough as the game would end 2-0.
Chelsea is now in 4th place with 50 points while Everton sits four points behind the Blues in 6th.
