Better late than never.
The Philadelphia Eagles waited until the next to last game of the 2019 season to make their stand, but they have finally taken it.
The NFC East can be theirs – and redemption, if they beat the New York Giants next Sunday.
The Dallas Cowboys had their shot and they blew it.
They won the Coin Toss and elected to kick off.
Why the Cowboys lost and the Eagles won.
Why in heaven’s name would head coach Jason Garret pass on the opportunity to:
1. Set the tone of the game by sending his offensive unit, which was coming off a dominating performance against the Los Angeles Rams – first and establish the rushing game with Zeke Elliott or…
2. Simply go after an often questionable defensive unit, which gives opposing teams early leads – and their leaky secondary, and just throw the football.
At any rate, the tanking Dallas Cowboys fell behind 10-0 after the first quarter, never established a consistent running game – Zeke Elliot had minus -1 yards at one point during the second quarter, fell behind 10-6 at halftime and the Cowboys only made three field goals the entire game, which very likely has decided the faith of the NFC East.
Owner Jerry Jones was being ridiculed for not firing Jason Garrett, but being ridicule is the least of his problems now.
The players lost all respect for his lame-duck head coach a while back, nowadays they aren’t even playing for pride.
The Philadelphia Eagles are depleted and short-handed due to injuries – also out talented at many offensive skills positions, but at least are fighting.
That’s the bad news.
The Good News?
Not a quarterback.
Carson Wentz has put the team on his back and through drop passes, missed field goals and defensive mistakes, has managed to pull-out good victories.
Eagles Nation has fully awakened from its’ Super Bowl Hangover and it’s ready to go to war with CW, now he’s not like most of us because of his personality and religious background, but backs against the wall, against all kinds of odds, win or lose…It is our thing.
Welcome aboard, Brother!
Next game?
Against the before mentioned New York Giants for the NFC East Division Title.
